bought a package of 20 Huel meal replacement drinks. Each meal is a bunch of flavored powder that you mix with about 16 ounces of water. They provide you with a large shaker bottle that contains a plastic screen, helping to break up the powder, which tends to clump together. I got several different flavors in the starter pack. Each meal is claimed to be around 400 calories, and contain as much protein as typical protein shakes.

I don't like the texture or the taste of the stuff. None of the different flavor options made me feel like buying more. For one reason or another, they didn't do anything to curb my appetite, and within an hour or so after drinking them I was hungry again.

I like the idea of starting my day with a protein/meal-replacement shake. Can any of yinz recommend a meal replacement drinks that you like?

Why not just eat food?

/----/ I get these at Costco. Best price. They don't replace a meal, but supplement one.

My wife likes these and they are always in the fridge. I want a meal replacement.
/----/ I asked Gemini. The secret to AI is to give the app a title. You'll get a specific expert answer. BTW, I know you tried Huel and didn't care for it. But this is the entore answer.

"You're a nutritional expert. Suggest meal replacements that leave me full and help me lose weight."

To feel full and lose weight, you need a meal replacement that is high in protein (to suppress hunger hormones) and fiber (to slow digestion), while maintaining a controlled calorie count.
Based on current nutritional data and dietitian reviews, here are the top-rated meal replacements for satiety and weight loss:

1. Best Overall for Satiety: Huel Black Edition

Huel is widely considered the gold standard for staying full. Unlike many shakes that are just "protein drinks," Huel is a complete meal with a low glycemic index (GI), meaning it provides slow-release energy.
  • Why it works: It contains 35g to 40g of protein and 6g to 7g of fiber per 400-calorie serving.
  • The "Fullness" Factor: The high fiber content and complex carbs (from oats and flaxseed) are specifically designed to keep you satiated for 3–5 hours.
  • Note: Some users find the texture slightly "earthy" or grainy due to the natural ingredients.

2. Best for Weight Loss & Gut Health: RSP TrueFit

TrueFit is highly rated by dietitians for weight loss because it combines high-quality protein with a massive dose of fiber and probiotics to prevent bloating.
  • Why it works: It provides 25g of grass-fed whey protein and 8g of prebiotic fiber.
  • The "Fullness" Factor: It uses MCT oil, a healthy fat that helps reduce appetite and provides immediate energy for your brain.
  • Pro Tip: It’s often cited as having a much better, creamier taste than plant-based alternatives like Huel.

3. Best "Superfood" Option: Ka’Chava All-In-One

If you want more than just macros, Ka’Chava includes 85+ superfoods, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Why it works: It has 240 calories, 25g of protein, and 7g of fiber.
  • The "Fullness" Factor: Because it is lower in calories than Huel (240 vs 400), it is excellent for strict weight loss, but it uses a "Super-Greens" and "Adaptogen" blend to help manage stress-related cravings.

4. Best Clean Plant-Based: OWYN Complete Nutrition

OWYN (Only What You Need) is ideal if you have a sensitive stomach or want to avoid common allergens like soy, dairy, or gluten.
  • Why it works: It offers 20g to 26g of plant protein and is free from artificial sweeteners that can sometimes trigger hunger.
  • The "Fullness" Factor: It includes Omega-3 fatty acids which help with satiety and heart health.

Expert Tip for Weight Loss: If you find yourself hungry shortly after a shake, try adding a handful of spinach or a tablespoon of chia seeds. This adds volume and extra fiber without significantly increasing calories.

Interesting assessment of Huel. My reaction seemed different. I was hungry an hour after consuming the stuff.

I was into those for a while. The texture eventually got to me.
I drink a muscle milk protein shake for breakfast. 25 grams of protein, zero sugar, 160 calories and 8 carbs. But it also has 4 grams of dietary fiber, so that basically cuts it down to 4 net carbs. These are pretty good, too.

/----/ You need more protein and fiber. Just stay away from carbs.
My overall diet is fine. I've lost 35 pounds in the last 6 months. I'm just looking for a good breakfast shake. Under 500 calories, good bit of protein, a bit of fiber, and appetite-satisfying. My Plan B is instant oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder.
