The EVs are Deep State spies. They tell "the government" and more everything. Buying one is a complete surrender of all privacy.

Data privacy experts say the investigation — which has determined that the driver, active-duty U.S. Army soldier Matthew Livelsberger, died by suicide before the blast — highlights how car companies vacuum up reams of data that can clear up mysteries but also be stolen or given to third parties without drivers’ knowledge. There are few regulations controlling how and when law enforcement authorities can access data in cars, and drivers are often unaware of the vast digital trail they leave behind.

“These are panopticons on wheels,” said Albert Fox Cahn, who founded the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project,

Do the EVs measure your body temperature, so the next time there is a faux "pandemic" your EV will tell DHS if your temp is above 98.6F and you will be pulled over and "detained" as a result?

Can one EV be used for a crime and its videos superimposed on your EV to frame you?

definition of panopticon
  1. a circular prison with cells arranged around a central well, from which prisoners could at all times be observed.

We converted the garage to living space so we should be safe. If the car won't let us drive to the store, I suppose we can still take the riding lawn mower. The great thing is that people who have illegals doing their gardening don't realize they left us enterprising rednecks a bypass to their high-tech snooping.

Since the EV is linked to all sorts of things outside the vehicle, it isn't too far fetched to believe someone outside your vehicle could essentially override you and control the vehicle, blowing it up or driving it off a cliff... with you in it.

Maybe some day with self-driving cars, but for now, my truck still has roll up windows so I can escape (not that there are actual cliffs around here).

Yeah, but the point is that a car 40 years ago was YOUR CAR, nobody else influenced it.

Today, an EV communicates with GPS satellite and cell phone (and perhaps other).

Are you really in control of your EV?

Scary thought...

I don't have an EV. My high tech car is a hybrid that gets such good mileage that I sometimes risk running out of gas because I seldom think to fill it up. My truck, on the other hand, needs drop tanks it goes through gas so fast.

I am not oblivious to your concerns. I just think I will be too old (or full of embalming fluid) to drive before it is a real world problem, so I am not going to fret about it. I will instead be amused by the stories like the guy whose self driving vehicle took him to his destination recently and then just kept driving in circles around it rather than actually stop at it.

Hybrids are fine if the aren't subsidized, and they don't need to be. They are competitive.

The EV needs to go. It isn't needed. We are badly losing jobs to China and Afghanistan because of it. I call it a

MORON MOBILE

because you have to be an absolute MORON to buy one... or a card carrying member of CO2 FRAUD.

EVs are a fool's errand. No range, time consuming and auto makers are losing millions if not billions

Oh I have to pay a lot more every year to renew registration for it under the pretense it is so efficient the state of Virginia might lose a dime in fuel tax revenue. I bought it because that was what they had cheapest with low mileage in the shutdown when my old car finally bit the dust. I was determined I was going to buy it before my better half knew what was what or else her ass would have had me in an overpriced new SUV or something I did not want without even bothering to ask me. She can be quite overreaching when it comes to big ticket items. I cut her off at the pass by buying it literally the same day my garage said the old car was tits up without a new engine.

They should not be subsidized.

CO2 FRAUD needs to fall immediately.

The CO2 warming is real, besides the fact we are running out of fossil fuel anyway.
But EVs actually pollute more CO2 than most modern ICE engines.
And before the SUV craze, people in Europe were working on getting over 100 mpg.
If ICE engines use bio fuel, like palm oil diesel, they essentially do not emit at all since the palm tree absorb more carbon than is release back later.

Have you turned off your Google makes tracker. If left on every trip you take, everywhere your phone goes, you can see the location on Google maps

I turned mine off

You are a lunatic. That is the stupidest thing that I have ever heard. You should not be allowed to go out after dark. I suppose your toaster is spying on you as well.

The scary thought is that there are nuts like you running around loose.
