The vote counts in the swing states took so long because Republican led legislatures tried to stack the deck by mandating that the mail in votes could not be counted until after polls closed on election day and the walk in votes were already counted. That's why Trump declared victory early the next day. You were warned well ahead of time of the swings back and forth in vote totals and that the count would take several days.

My feeling on mail-in ballots is very simple….

1. Requests for nail-in ballots must include an affidavit on why the voter can’t be at the polling place on Election Day.

2. Mail-in ballots must be received by 8pm the day before the election.

3. All bits must by signature checked BEFORE being counted.

4. All mail-in ballots must be processed the day of the election.

5. No day-of voting totals can be announced until the nail-in numbers have been tabulated.

6. Totals will be announced as a combined number, not day-of vs write-in votes
