How racist America despised early Italian migrants through satire

They are white now so it's cool

Exactly. Glad to see you're getting over your racism a little. White Lives Matter.
I would expect a dumb ass to not know that racism was the chief reason in declaring Italians as white...all for the purpose of consolidating power....

Biff, you and your articles are nonsense...

You should get some better reading material.

I am forced every month to kick up 20 percent of my profits to these Italian meatball maniacs as they call it “‘protection money “

This is what I love about living in outside the U.S., here in latin america for example they celebrate the superiourity of their race on "Race Day" (aka Columbus Day). ohoh, the tendency to look to the U.S. where everything's bigger & better is forcing an evolutionary change to self hatred.

We'll see how this plays out in the future, but let's face it for now most of the world loves itself & feels it's superior, except the U.S. where the leftwing Americans are overbearing w/ some kind of "hyper-inferiourity".

So what is false about those portrayals? A majority of Italians went back to Italy after they made enough money to set themselves up with businesses and farms in Italy; like most economic opportunists the majority of immigrants didn't come here because they loved freedom n stuff, they came to loot and plunder and stuff their pockets. No need to pretend the natives were obligated to pander to them; all they did was lower wages and living standards for white working people already here.
The natives???

Italians are natives to America -- they are the first Americans, remember?

Why do you hate Christopher Columbus??

You wish. See there's this third option called equality..
For its part, Italians Americans observe Columbus Day as a celebration of their heritage, not to the man. Within the Italian community, Columbus Day symbolizes the legacy of their ancestors who immigrated to America, overcame poverty, language barriers, and above all, discrimination. Surprisingly, this holiday was first celebrated by Italians of New York in 1866 honoring Columbus’s Italian Heritage, but the official celebration in Spain did not occur until 1913 and soon after in Latin America.

Hispanics are embracing the millennial vision of the New World, where the unification of Spain with the tribes of America, which celebrates the spreading of the Spanish language, the beginning of a new Hispanic identity, but most of all honoring ethnic diversity of its people.

Columbus Day has become the strangest holiday celebration in the United States, one in which the common opinion of the day has slipped the farthest from the purpose of those who initiated the practice. It nevertheless seems that the vast majority of Hispanics has given a lesson in finding October 12th as a positive celebration of the mixing of peoples and cultures.

The "Day of the Race" is in no way a celebration of "diversity". That's an American construct, just like it would be impossible for Latins to have "E Pluribus Unum" on their coins.

LOl ^^^ A Moron Discusses History, and as usual screws it up, doesn't even know where Columbus landed. These commie educated idiots are a hoot. And, it was a Spanish expedition, doesn't matter where the captains were born.

Tribes and nations clearly differ from federations of States. The link supplies lots of history revealing various takes. For example:
Venezuela and Nicaragua have changed the name of this holiday to Día de la Resistencia Indígena (Day of Indigenous Resistance) because they consider that it was not a discovery but rather a genocide that occurred, where American natives suffered the attacks of the Spain population.

Ecuador declared October 12th as Día de la Interculturalidad y la Plurinacionalidad (Day of Intercultural and Plurinationality), which was designed to recognize and promote dialogue between different cultures, strengthen national unity, and celebrate all nationalities and indigenous peoples.

Venezuela and Nicaragua --two paragons of open mindedness lol!! Seriously like I said above the situation is evolving and the resolution of conflicting indigenous groups is a real necessitiy. Meanwhile of the 33 countries in Latin America we've got 3 that are reexamining Day of the race & it seems we got no new info on the other 30.
