Growing up the two sports i loved and had a passion for playing were football and baseball.as a result,I always watched the superbowl and the world series.Basketball i totally hated that sport and never watched the NBA championship or college basketball.I cant even name who won the NBA championship or the final four in college basketball last year thats how much attention i pay to the NBA or college basketball.

was wondering if there are any others here who also loved playing football and baseball but hate the sport of basketball? even if you disagree and love all 3 go ahead and post. I will never fathom why people get excited about a game where all you do is try and put a ball in a hoop more times than the other team.:icon_rolleyes:

when i say that the comeback i hear is -"WELL YOU DO THAT IN BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL AS WELL." Uhhh not true.NO you DONT.
In Baseball and in football you are always doing something DIFFERENT,hitting and fielding are two different things and throwing and running a football are two different things as well not to metion BLOCKING someone and running after someone are two entire different things as well.LOL Basketball is just dribbling down the court back and forth doing the SAME thing trying to put a ball in a hoop.LOL
i bet you couldnt put that ball in a hoop in competition 10% of the time...

Baseball was my first love...New goofy rules and wokeism fucked it up.

Football was #2...Wokeism destroyed my enjoyment...Don't even bother with the Soup Bowl anymore.

NHL is all that's left to me....Though a few have tried to **** it up, it remains 99% shitlib free.

This is my take on why I have absolutely no use for college or pro basketball. In baseball, the first run scored could be the winner. In football, the first score could be the winner; therefore, the whole game has meaning. BASKETBALL, great for kids in the park, but the way the pro game is constructed, each and every early point means NOTHING. The only part of the game that is interesting is the last couple of minutes, if the game is close. In addition, the players are almost as thuggish as in football.

Me and you are totally on the same page except for Hockey. yeah forget how baseball and football are a corrupt cartel now and have been destroyed by wokeism growing up it was a much different story.

we are totally on the same page here. Baseball was actually my FIRST love as well and football my second also. love to hear you hated basketball also.

My dad got me into baseball and my cousin got me into football but i never had anybody get me into hockey at a young age so never played it but i enjoy watching it LIVE. Hockey is the same as baseball is for me,Baseball was a THRILL to play and its fun to go out to a big league ballpark and watch it LIVE,USED to be anyways until wokeism but watching it on tv is like watching paint dry thats why only the playoffs and world series could i get into when it came to watching baseball on tv.

 excellent summary.

Yeah you nailed it,for KIDS in the park its GREAT.because of those points you mentioned, basketball LIVE i find is as boring as watching baseball on TV.same thing about as exciting as watching paint dry.

In gym when we were given a basketball and told to just shoot goals to pass the day,I would just try and keep myself from getting bored by shooting behind my back and trying to put the ball in the hoop THAT way,.

MY problem i always had with basketball and why i cant fathom WHY people would get excited about playing it for competetion as with baseball and football is in basketball you are ALWAYS doing the SAME thing, just one thing, dribbling the ball down the court and trying to put a ball in a hoop more times than the opponent, what is so fun and exciting about that?

then when i mention that to people who like the game and enjoy watching it the comeback i hear is-"YEAH BUT THATS THE SAME WAY WITH BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL AS WELL,YOU ARE TRYING TO SCORE MORE THAN THE OPPONENT."

uhhhh yeah but the DIFFERENCE with BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL is you are doing DIFFERENT THINGS in the process, In baseball hitting and fielding are TWO TOTAL DIFFERENT THINGS.

with football you are doing different things as well, running the ball and throwing the ball are two different things entirely not to mentioning blocking and trying to hit somebody are two total different things as well.:auiqs.jpg:

apples and oranges.

Industrial scale gambling is ******* them up too.

You know that when your primary sponsors are gambling operations, the cheating scandals aren't going to be far behind.

I liked them ALL and tried to play them ALL. Even Soccer later on, pool in bars, footsball, softball, golf. Darts? Bombardment? Wrestling? Street hockey? Ice skating? Chess? Bowling?

Yes Basketball too from early on.

Baseball - hated it and kicked the crap out of many of the kids on the teams.

Football - loved the physicality.

Wrestling - the match.

I grew up in a hockey rink ... though I never did learn to skate ... how I wound up as a 165 lbs Nose Tackle is too long of a tale to type in ... I self-identify as a 2nd baseman ... but I had the arm for 3rd ...

Where it rains every day all day long ... basketball is king ... and I bleed 49er scarlet ...

How about a shout-out to woman's volleyball? ... best spectator sport, bar none ...

My interest in football peaked when my home team, the Pittsburgh Steelers were winning Super Bowls regularly. When that stopped, I Iost interest. I look at the Sports section on Monday during NFL season to see how they did, but I wouldn't waste my time watching an actual game, regardless of who is playing.

I loved basketball and baseball growing up (as well as tennis), and I still enjoy watching some NBA and MLB games, although I focus on a dozen or so players and couldn't care less about the leagues generally. I am bothered greatly by changes to professional basketball, largely the adoption of street ball "rules" into professional competition.

I watch golf on Sunday when it is the last day of a tournament. Tennis is less interesting to me now that there are no Americans at the top of the ratings. Hockey, soccer, forget about it.

I golf and bowl regularly, weather permitting.

Don’t the vast majority sports (the ones that make the most money) ultimately boil down to putting some sort of ball through some sort of apparatus more times than the other team ?

Golf,Bowling, pool, and Tennis were always a blast to play because what makes it a joy is you have nobody else to blame but YOURSELF if you lose sense it is an individual sport where baseball and football are a team sport so you can be left saying "damn if only so and so hadnt dropped that ball we would have won that game" or "if so and so had not fumbled the ball we would have won that game." you just KNOW cleveland players were saying that about the infamous ernest byver and that playoff loss to the browns. He has STILL got to be hated today by clevelanders.

dont have time these days for golf, bowling, pool or tennis otherwise i WOULD play them, wish i could clone myself and have my clone go to work for me then i COULD still have time play those sports.:abgg2q.jpg::biggrin:

I've gone through phases, but the constants have been baseball and women's beach volleyball, for very different reasons.

I learned the hard way growing up that any round ball sports I was not good at. Any non-round sports I was OK. Any sport without a ball where are you just had to hurt and or dominate another person I excelled at.

Never got into it that much. Even when the Chargers were good with Air Coryell and I was living in SD, didn't get into it.
i will never understand that for the life of me. Man those days of Air Coryell were about the best days in the history of the NFL. I always loved the chargers same as the LOS ANGELES Rams. those Air Coryell days were about the funnest times in the NFL for me.:yes_text12::banana::dance:

OK, except for squirrel hunting, women's beach volleyball is the best. Jed Clampett was the best!
