When I was growing up, 1/3 of all children died from diseases that you've propably never heard of because they no longer exist. Scarlet fever, smallpox, whooping cough, tuberculosis, and polio. These diseases were literally ENDED by vaccines. Children rarely die these days, and when they do, it's from cancer or genetic illnesses. Seldom from communicable childhood diseases, because they've been eradicated.

Vaccines are not "causing" autism, and have rarely caused any harms to any children. These is a concerted campaign by monied interests to these diseases circulating amongst children. These people are promoting lies and conspiracy theories.

The definition of "on the spectrum" has changed over the years. I have a family member now in his 90's who has, in recent years, been diagnosed as being "on the spectrum". 2 of my sister's 3 children, now in their 50's and 60's have also been recently diagnosed as "on the spectrum".

I remember my sister in tears when her youngest was growing up, fearing she'd never be able to "look after herself". That has been pretty much the case, but her daughter has a son who is institutionalized, but who was the only family member actually diagnosed as "autistic" as a child. My nephew, like his father, was considered a bit "odd" growing up. He never married or had children.

The overwhelming body of evidence is that autism has always been with us. In the past, fewer autistic children survived to adulthood, or became parents. Since there are wildly differing degrees of autism, our ability to diagnose it has improved over the years. I had never ever heard of autism, until I was an adult. Now, it's everywhere.
