Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green will soon have a job to assist the Department of Government Efficiency led by billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer plans to create a Congressional subcommittee chaired by firebrand Republican, Green confirmed Thursday on social media.

Comer has met with Ramaswamy, according to Fox News, citing a 'source familiar' with the meeting. A spokesman for Ramaswamy confirmed the meeting, adding that he was 'grateful' that Congress was committed to the goal and 'look forward to working together.'

Musk and Ramaswamy announced their plans Thursday to force federal workers to return to the office, ending the work-from-home culture that settled into the federal government during the coronavirus pandemic.

The heads of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), appointed by President-elect Donald Trump detailed their plans to cut wasteful regulations and spending in federal government in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, specifically targeting the number of federal government employees.

‘Requiring federal employees to come to the office five days a week would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that we welcome: If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home,’ the pair wrote.

Shit's getting real now! ;)

It will be a wild time if they just throw out a blanket directive says all federal remote workers have to report to their office in/around DC by whatever day. A lot of people will just quit, which is obviously what they want to happen.

If I was a remote fed worker in my AO I’d start house searching in NOtVA right now.....Unless they want to leave my AO at 0430 every morning. :laughing0301:

Ending work from home will not be enough to get rid of the Deep State.

Not in and of itself...no.

But following every dollar will expose the corruption and give them the evidence to prove it in court.

That's the whole point of DOGE...to expose the corruption & put the perps in prison.

How many of those "work from homes" don't really exist? And the salary is going straight to a democrat?

We shall see.

Truth be told, if a third of the federal workforce currently at home quits rather than goes back to do 8 hours real work at the office, we should get about the same amount of work done.

The facts will be the good ones quit who can quickly get hired by private employers.

It is certainly a lot harder not to get lost and distracted and put in a solid 8 hours.

For some people, certainly. Others actually find it easier because it's less stressful working from home. Supposedly a hybrid schedule is being seen as potentially the best mix of productivity and worker flexibility.

I worked from home for years and it absolutely WAS difficult to avoid distraction for me. I was young, though. I think I'd be better able to handle it now, although I can't do my job remotely, unfortunately.

In this particular situation regarding federal workers who are currently working remotely, I wonder if it's an overly blunt solution.

A good number of them are probably moonlighting while on the clock. In other words to they're punched in on two time"cards" simultaneously. This is prosecutable theft.

So in your opinion, a multi-hour commute into work each way is "reasonable"?

You're projecting your own behaviors onto others, not everyone is like that. And some people get paid according to how many hours they work while others are salaried, however it has ALWAYS been my experience that no matter how you do you work or from where, the important thing is that you meet your deadlines and the code you turn in complies with the specs.

As a software developer you can code from just about anywhere & I have, including from home even before the Los Angeles earthquake in 1994 introduced a lot of companies to telecommuting simply because of the damage done to the freeways and a lot of the major arteries in and around the Los Angeles metropolitan area making it difficult to get around for a while.
