The evidence continues piling up that Trump is toxic to the Republican Party. Until he and MAGA are purged from it they are going to continue to experience losses.

But he said not enough Republicans turned out on polling to day to catch up with Suozzi's big lead in early voting. 'One of the main reasons Democrats did go to the polls was, as they told us, to ‘stop Donald Trump’ and due to concerns about "threats to democracy,"' he said.

'Those concerns were prevalent for independents too and was more important in driving voter turnout in this election than the border. Suozzi's tough border stance probably helped him neutralize that issue too.'

In fact, the border was also the third most important issue for Democrats.

Another issue for Republicans is they get spanked by Democrats in early voting. While Democrats have tended to outpace Republicans in early voting the difference has become stark in recent years as Trump convinced so many in his flock that it's full of fraud and their ballots won't be counted. Now they are relying on a massive Election Day turn out and it doesn't always materialize, especially if bad weather hits.

the republican party has been toxic for decades and needs a clean out,,

The toxicity of Trump is a big part of it, like the OP says.

Other factors are that "signature issues" don't help each side equally. Focusing on abortion rights helps Democrats a lot, while focusing on a fake immigration panic doesn't help Republicans much.

And COVID offed a disproportionate number of Trump voters.

Since Republicans never agree with us we keep telling them they should nominate Nancy Pelosi. There is still time. Trump's losing it. Nancy could still win North Carolina her home state.

Pubs are morons.

Menendez, Swalwell, and Schiff are still in office.

There are maybe 50 members of Congress that are not garbage.

Libertarians with TDS are like unicorns.

This race was a tough one for Republicans to win

Resentment against Santos and a weak candidate in Mazi Pilip that was relatively unknown

Trump was irate that she kept her distance from endorsing Trump

And then you idiots would lose to the Dems anyway, as usual.

"hey lets get rid of over 1/2 the party and THAT will make us winners!!!"

The NY special election race had nothing to do with Trump - and even the Leftist intelligentsia recognizes this.

In fact, the Left readily concedes NY could be a major problem this November.

This is from a Leftist at Slate magazine:

In some sense, this congressional district, New York’s 3rd, was a true bellwether; it’s an actual toss-up swing district, and this victory for Democrats will narrow the slim Republican House majority even further. But the temptation to nationalize the outcome here is a misleading one. Suozzi’s triumph, while great for Democrats, has little to say about Biden’s fate; Pilip’s victory would have said little about Trump. The race did show us, however, just how much money and effort will be necessary to win toss-up districts in 2024—and on a more local level, how far national Democrats are going to have to go to make up for the ineptitude of New York’s state Democratic Party.

And the NY Times is ambiguous at best:

Given the unusual challenge of estimating the likely electorate in a special election compared with a general election, I wouldn’t read anything into that disparity for November.

But hey, believe what you want.

We'll all find out soon enough.

Keep it up. You have less than eight months before your fantasy world crashes.

Only MAGA can think three straight election cycles of losses translates to "winning."
only a idiot thinks thinks 50 yrs of stabbing people in the back goes unnoticed,,

the GOP establishment that you support has lied cheated stole and stabbed this country in the back far to many times,,

Because you guys decided letting dems win is preferable to people on your own supposed side winning.

I'm not letting anyone do anything. It's your toxic movement and the golden calf you worship that people are rejecting almost everywhere.

Hiding behind Trump's window dressing rhetoric, he's still true to his D party roots of socially responsible government. To understand, best to think of how far he's distanced himself from conservatism.
