South Korea’s demographic crisis is no secret: plummeting birth rates, collapsing marriages, and a society aging faster than it can replenish itself.

What’s less discussed is how this crisis has seeped into the Catholic Church. Faced with shrinking congregations and a growing sense of irrelevance, church leaders in South Korea have not turned inward toward doctrine or upward toward God. They’ve turned, instead, to circuits and code.

When scripture gets scripted

From Seoul to Suncheon, priests are now being trained to use generative AI. Not to critique it or guard the faithful from its implications, but to embrace it — enthusiastically. They're using ChatGPT to write sermons and generate liturgical music.

What once began in the minds of Silicon Valley technocrats is now being welcomed into the sanctuary.

This shift marks a deep departure from the church’s foundation. A tradition grounded in divine revelation is beginning to rely on predictive text to feed its flock. Priests are swapping prayers for prompts. Scripture is being blended with machine-generated syntax, often created by people who view religion as an outdated, outlandish myth.

If so what do you think it is saying?

Speaking with Asia News, he added that religion “must actively learn and understand science and technology in order to prevent abuses related to their use.”

Another goal of the initiative is to build bridges between the Church and technology companies in order to improve the content of tools that use AI.

“I have noticed that Catholic and Protestant terminology are often confused and that there is a lot of misinformation about the saints. I therefore thought it necessary for the Church to collaborate with companies to improve these aspects,” said Father Leone Lee Jae-geun, deputy director of the Office of Social Communications.

Sounds like they are negotiating the terms to the future AI "truthiness" of theology.

Problem is, when it comes to the truth, there is no negotiating.

But it is not just AI, AI will infiltrate pretty much everything like this as "it" will become our reality.

Only if AI tells you they are lies

AI has become the newest department of "truthiness" for the zombie apocalypse.

I doubt anyone can even write a half was legible paper about pretty much anything now, let alone be able to think about it critically.

Yea, just have AI do it morons.

No. It sounds like they want to make sure AI doesn’t get it wrong.

Let's say that is what they are trying to do.

Will AI be trustworthy at that point?

Probably not 100%.

Better to try though.
They why use it?

Essentially, what you are saying is AI is "good", except not 100% accurate.

So, those using it, are they going to research everthing AI tells them, especially when such research is probably influenced by other AI models?

No, people use AI to make things "simple", because they are lazy.

Thanks for playing.

I believe that AI will begin to be seen as inerrant as many Christians believe the Bible to be, or they will treat it as such by not researching the truth behind it.

This will only get worse as AI increases in ability.

Don’t use it then. I take the position that everything should be tested to see if it makes sense. I don’t recommend blindly accepting anything or assuming all things are wrong. A little discernment is necessary.

Just explaining the concern over AI taking over churches, much like how the Left has taken over many churches.

Yes, but many put their trust in men and machines instead.
Doesn’t matter what they do. Either you believe everything works for good or you don’t.

Did you watch the movie 42? It was allowing people to do the wrong thing that paved the way for doing the right thing.

Error cannot stand. Eventually it will fail. Think of it this way… the best way to get rid of a bad law is to enforce it to the fullest.

Everything does not work together for good.

That is not what scripture says.

That is not what scripture says.
Romans 8:28: This verse states that God works for the good of those who love him in all things.

Genesis 50 : 20 This verse, from Joseph's story, illustrates how God can use intended evil for a good purpose.

Romans 5:3-4: This passage suggests that suffering can lead to endurance, character, and hope.

2 Corinthians 4:17: This verse indicates that troubles are temporary and contribute to eternal glory.

1 Peter 1:6-7: This passage highlights how trials test and refine faith, leading to praise, glory, and honor.

James 1:2-4: This verse encourages finding joy in trials as they produce perseverance and maturity.

Notice the difference between what this says and you saying all things work together for good.

God uses those who love him to make the world a better place.

You have a hard eye for God if you don’t believe he is working for the good of everyone.
