We all should be watching these hearings. It is the best insight available to how policy is set, laws are made, and investigations on behalf of the people are conducted.
In this particular action, Congresswoman Lee (D) makes a motion to subpoena the Epstein Files from DOJ, and other members offer amendments to the motion.
Some Republicans move to add specific names, prominent Democrats and Never Trump Republicans. Then Congressman Garcia moves to change that to "any President, etc."
At :30 Nancy Mace (R) moves to add the word "credible" to the subpoena. This leads to debate over whether this will potentially delay to vote on the subpoena and allow "other parties" to decide what is credible.
I would trust Nancy Mace on this issue more than any other congressperson. She wants to avoid a witchhunt and releasing information that is not credible and could damage people's requtations.
But I feel that the Dems have a point that someone will have to decide. Mace later talks about wanting only verified information released. That adds another hurdle.
If even Nancy Mace wants to be careful, I fear we may never see this information in any actually revealing form. Because how "verified" could any information like this be?
Garcia makes the point that this subpoena is to give it to Congress, not to release it to the public. A disingenuous point in my opinion. A distinction without difference. That information will leak like an eight hour old diaper.
