House Speaker Doesn’t Want Gaetz Ethics Report Released.....cuz.........of course.

Speaker Mike Johnson said on Friday that he would “strongly” discourage the release of a damaging bipartisan investigative report on the conduct of former Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida, whom President-elect Donald J. Trump said would be his attorney general nominee.

The House Ethics Committee had planned a vote on releasing the results of its yearslong investigation of Mr. Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, but the panel’s proceedings were halted by his resignation from Congress after being put forward on Wednesday for the country’s top law-enforcement job. Senators in both parties then demanded to see the report.

Johnson is going to want to stuff it down the memory hole as quickly as possible. After all, the thought of the AG doing a 17 year old is suboptimal. Maybe drugs were involved? Uh oh.

Sen. Cornyn (R) says he wants to see it as part of what could be an ill fated confirmation process. Maybe to give him cover to vote against confirmation. If he doesn't get to see the report he will get to see the routine FBI background check performed on all nominees.
Might as well release it. Anyone with any brains knows exactly what it is.
Personally, I think it's going to get leaked.
Of course. Look at the DOJ for the last for years. Democrats cannot help themselves.

Gaetz resigned, it is no longer a matter for the House. The House should get back the People's business, the reason they are supposed to be there.

Years long you say...if that witch hunt was worth the paper it was written on Dems would have already leaked it and rushed to the cameras for a propaganda photo op. :eusa_hand:

If you don't want the media to pay attention to corrupt, criminal politicians, stop promoting them.

You guys want this crap.
They never pay attention to Democrat corrupt, criminal politicians. So take it up with them.

There have been. With the left, we need to come up with legitimate government.

So far, that's a failure.
You spent years trying to frame up Biden for corruption and that never panned out.

What accusations were you referring to?

Further proof that Trump is unfit to be president.

Right Wing Religious Nut Jobs love their criminals, especially Trump.

This is the only guy Trump could come up with for AG? Really?

It's like a freakin' April Fools joke.

Nah.... There are dozens of qualified candidates... Gaetz will never be confirmed.
But he'll probably be there for 10 months or so.
In the meantime Trump wont have to worry about backstabbing from that seat. Gaetz walks away with a pension and Trump has time to carefully pick another person.

Woman told House Ethics Committee she saw Gaetz have sex with minor, her lawyer says

A woman told the House Ethics Committee that she saw Matt Gaetz, who is President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for the U.S. attorney general, have sex with a minor, her lawyer said Friday.

“My client testified to the House Ethics Committee that she witnessed Rep. Gaetz having sex with a minor at a house party in Orlando in 2017,” Joel Leppard said.

Gaetz, a far-right Republican U.S. representative, resigned from Congress on Wednesday after Trump announced plans to nominate him for attorney general, has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.

Leppard said the woman he represents testified before the House Ethics Committee in April.

He said he represents two witnesses who have provided testimony to the committee regarding Gaetz.

“The American people deserve to know the truth about the person slated to become the top law enforcement officer in the country” Leppard told NBC News.

Don't we deserve the know the truth?
