House Republicans tell Trump to cut back on spending

True, but the math has to work. Cut more spending and add the millionaire tax, as Trump said.
Here's some math(s) -

The average combined sales tax rate is 8.2 percent in Texas. A regular Texan spends $50,000 and $4,100 in tax. A millionaire Texan spends $500,000 and $41,000 in tax. You're not happy that the millionaire was taxed $36,900 more in that one area alone, there are many other taxes? Hypothetical of course but plausible.

You must not work OT or live on tips.

If it passes the gop will have the rank and file union voter for 200 years. Same with the young wait staff of today (lots of college students) who move up in the world.
I'm all for those things. Also the SS taxes stopped. I've worked construction as a commercial/industrial electrician for 15 years. Know ALL ABOUT overtime.

I've also owned restaurants and been a Chef and Baker. Know all about exactly what taxing gratuities did to the foodservice industry. (Turned it into crap food at ridiculous prices and removed the talent from the industry....it's all heat and eat BS and no talent in the kitchens or on the waitstaff floor).

Now I'm on SS....retired.

But I'll be damned if I stand for continuing to pay illegal aliens my tax dollars until 2040. Or SS benefits to some little bastard whose parent hopped across the border to birth the child then went back home or stayed illegally to collect Medicaid, SS, food stamps, housing, and every other form of gubbermint cheese they can grab.

I don't mind LEGAL immigration at all. Guest worker programs or whatever. Worked around them my whole life. The illegal ones? They can get the F#$%^ out yesterday.

Now am I understood? I don't want anything except what was promised. And a dry bone along side of a wasps nest of problems is insufficient.

No. The maximum tax rate (sales tax) in Texas is 8.25 percent; not 8.2%.
The State sales tax is 6.25%. Any additional levy is done by the municipality or the county.

Its not a statewide tax. Houston has an 8.25% sales tax rate. Jackson County--down 59 from Houston, has 6.75%.

I guess you have not been paying attention then....If your beef is with illegals then Trump is doing what he can to get shed of them. ***** to the courts and congress who have to be dragged, kicking-n-screaming.

As it stands now I'd prefer that the worker sees the benefits of a tax break.

Odd that though, talk about a complete reversal. At one time it would have been the dems looking out for the working man, not the gop. All the dems of today are looking after is illegals and the criminal elements.

So hey, it's sort of a new thing for the gop and I'm willing to give them time to get their feet under them for that end.

It's not just the illegals....there is still plenty of other things jammed into that bill.

Remember a couple of months ago when they needed a continuing resolution for the budget and there was two bills. One was an Encyclopedia sized bill and the other fit inside a manilla file folder.
Currently the "Big Bill" is TWO sets of Encyclopedias and really doesn't deliver what it says. It increases taxes on Senior Citizens and increases government spending for LGBTQ/DEI agenda items as well as a bunch of other pork barrel items.

Its a crap bill. Killed in committee.

Let's start over with one cleanly drafted that addresses the promises and fits in a manilla folder.
Not difficult, not impossible, and does as this crappy congressional doesn't want to do because they are bought and paid for by the "deep state".

Average combined. Not the minimum, not the maximum, but the average combined. Please read posts.

I'm confident it will soon pass, and it will include no tax on tips.

My guess it will have passed the House by the end of next week,

This is all on Johnson-less.

He could have kept the GOP caucus in town and at work trough all the "vacations" that they have had since 20 Jan.

He is the most gutless, worthless, and weak Speaker in Murican history.
I disagree. He's recently been pretty effective with this group, and I expect he'll get this bill past the finish line quite soon.

A slight change to the SALT piece and starting those Medicaid work requirements earlier than 2029, might be all that is needed on the House side.

Meh, I can live with the "math" if the working man is benefited. Nobody cared about "the math" when the dems were sending all those billions to NGOs and back into DNC coffers.

No taxes on OT is a big fuckin' deal.
Trips to El Salvador with Margaritas!

If it passes, there will be no rank and file union voters, because there will be no unions. And Trump has already promised that 2024 would be the last time the American people voted for a President.

Given that Trump is the guy who cancelled overtime pay for "fast food managers", and has refused to raise the minimum wage, you're dreaming in technicolor. In fact, if Trump continues on track with Project 2025, the Administration will eliminate the minimum wage altogether, and completely gut worker rights.

Trump is already ahead of schedule in his attempts to carry out the work of Project 2025.

I was hoping for SS taxes to stop too, but that's not in the bill. They weren't able to include that because it didn't fit within what was allowed within the use of reconciliation.

Instead, they replaced that plan with an additional $4000 tax deduction to all seniors with annual income below $75,000 for an individual or below $150,000 for a couple.

House Republicans tell Trump to cut back on spending

I love kabuki theater.
These guys will catch unmitigated hell for being the good guys in this play.
Now leadership can throw a few meaningless bones to the fiscally responsible and declare a win for all mankind and go on borrowing and spending as before.

It's PEANUTS. I made $18,000 overtime a year, my last year on Bay Street. My income tax on that overtime was $4000. The only way I paid thoses taxes in the first place, was to work such long hours that my husband's standard after work call to me was to ask if he was going to have dinner with anyone other than the cat. I was working the equivalent of an addition 12 weeks per year, over and above, my contracted work week.

No income tax on overtime sounds like a good idea until you realize that that Trump plans to eliminate "overtime", minimum wages, and all other labor laws, unions, and protections for workers. See Project 2025.

This idiot obviously doesn't know what a RINO is or what the House Freedom Caucus is.

Chip Roy (R-TX) is a hard core deranged conservative who doesn't believe in any Federal spending.
