On Wednesday, House Democrats voted 220-210 to pass H.R. 1, the “For the People Act,” which is the most important set of voting and election reforms since the historic Voting Rights Act was adopted in 1965. These reforms, which House Democrats previously passed in 2019, face a challenging path to in the Senate given Democrats’ narrow majority and uncertainty over whether they can overcome a GOP filibuster, but their adoption is critical for preserving American democracy amid unprecedented attack by Republican extremists both in and outside Congress

All Republicans should vote for it, because we all know how important free and fair elections are to them.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Every one of the fuckers who voted for this violated the United States Constitution.

They should be dragged into the streets naked and beaten.

HR 1 most likely will meet it's demise in the senate.

It's patently unconstitutional.

The vile Nazis in the house who passed it should be dragged into the streets naked and beaten.

Just like we see how important the US Constitution is to the left. This takes elections out of the hands of
the states and nationalizes them even as the federal government clamps down on freedoms and ignores law.

It's a gift from democrats to democrats that insures one party rule forever. Goodbye USA.
Thank you for admitting that the current voter-suppression efforts in some states are motivated by partisanship. Nobody can tell if there is "one party rule" at any time unless there is a free election in which all eligible people can vote and the votes are counted. If you are concerned that one party cannot win, look at the party and the candidates it runs, who perhaps have no appeal for some voters. Voters know that we all have to live with the results of any individual being elected to, and exercising the powers and functions of a public office.

A person who opposes making sure that as many people can vote as possible is not a patriot. This bill is definitely needed given the anti-democracy movement that we have seen recently.
The Republican Party wants only ELIGIBLE voters and their legal votes to be counted. The Democrat Party wants ALL people (including dead people, people who do not live in their voting precinct, illegal aliens, felons, foreigners, et al) to vote as many times as they can. This bill is anti-American and unconstitutional.
Shame on you for parroting right-wing lies. There has never, ever been proof of any widespread voter fraud. None. The republicans want to prevent eligible people from voting, which is a betrayal of our American values. They should move to Russia. They already have admitted several times that they cannot win without suppressing the legitimate vote (i.e. cheating). Face the fact that right-wing policies are not acceptable to a lot of people.

It goes counter to states rights and will not pass SCOTUS muster even if it squeezes through the senate--and Kameltoe will be on record as passing an unconstitutional bill.

Shame on you for supporting and praising the most vicious attack on civil rights and Constitutional Liberty since the first civil war.

Any of the vermin in the house who voted for this is a fucking traitor - openly violating the Constitution of the United States.

They should be dragged into the street naked and beaten.

This has nothing to do with voting, this is the outlawing of dissenting speech.

Congress shall make no law.

But Congress just did make a law - which makes congress, or at least that branch, illegitimate. Openly and wantonly shitting on the Bill of Rights cannot be simply shrugged off.

Those who voted for this violated their oath of office to support and defend the Constitution - they have engaged in treason.

I understand that this attack on the constitution has no chance in the Senate, yet the fact that there are traitorous vermin in the house who voted for this shows that the nation cannot be reconciled, cannot be healed. The democrats are dedicated to the utter and complete destruction of the Union and Constitutional Republic and MUST be treated as what they are, enemy combatants waging civil war against America.

that looks to be a sensible set of proposals. You would have to be ultra cynical to raise an objection to it.
I object to almost EVERY DINGLE ITEM in that legislation. It goes in the exact OPPOSITE direction of what we need to do in order to fix this country.
But you do not want people to vote at all. Your opinion needs to be read through that filter.
That is not true, but since you claim you are a Canadian citizen, you have no idea that our founders set up a system to protect the voting rights of only citizens of the United States with one vote each.

If you can be certain of one thing, if congress passes something with a title like "for the people", it will function in exactly the opposite manner.

See: "Affordable Care Act" and "Patriot Act".
Why does "The People's Republic of China/N. Korea" come to mind?

Now I know that the Constitution on a Nazi democrat is like salt on a slug, but...

Outlawing dissenting speech by enemies of the Reich is a direct violation of the 1st Amendment.

Look, the Reich hates the Constitution nearly as much as you hate civil rights, I get it. But the Reich is like a mongrel hound at a BBQ. If you turn your back they will steal the ribs and piss in the potato salad. They need a good swift kick regularly to keep them from fucking everything up.

The vomitus in the house that waged this assault on Constitutional rights is going to keep trying until they get kicked hard enough to fear the cost of their vile actions.

Neither one of us has read the bill.

Text - H.R.1 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): For the People Act of 2019 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress
Why don't you read it and get back to us in 2 years when you're done.

SCOTUS is so petrified of the Reich packing the court they have become mewling kittens who refuse to support our Constitution.
