Haven't watched it all, but the gist of it is that Limousine Lefty Marlo Thomas, in Asianface, is sold as a mail order bride after her socialist schoolmarm in China is executed for plotting against the Empress.

She comes to the Ponderosa, and insists that she is entitled to be in charge. She organizes the workers, starting with Hop Sing and then the ranch hands.

I won't spoil the ending for you, but it is one of the cleverest episodes of that show I've seen. I only wish they had cast at least a half-Asian in the role.

Loved that show. You know, that house and the Virginia City replica is still out there in Incline Village on the northeast side of Tahoe. It used to be open to the public but they say it turned into a zoo with all the cultists spreading their ashes there, trying to hide away in one of the buildings and honeymoon there, pitching tents there. It was an important part of so many peoples lives, mine included. One trivia fact. The stairway upstairs in the main house was a dead end. No bedrooms, just a landing and a wall.

I only used to watch it when visiting my grandma. I don't know why we never watched it at him. My grandma would talk as if the people were very real.

I learned to enjoy fiction that way, imagining that the people had real lives as their characters.

It was a dramatic western series but with such a sense of humor that the cast became a great comedy ensemble. Great comedy, minus the punchlines, I guess it was.

Interesting.

Pretty funny, because the "Cheyenne" thread below, the episode linked, the first guy you meet is Dan Blocker years before getting cast as Hoss...

She's lucky she ended up with the Chinaman because the alternative, ending up with Hoss, would have ended in her death. On that show, agreeing to marry Hoss or Little Joe was a death sentence.

hoss aint real....billy was....you made it like you knew the guy....
