My position is that we should used medical science to determine what helps these people the most. That’s what matters to me.

If the science shows that gender affirming care helps people, then you’d either have to accept gender affirming care or reject it and admit that you are okay with harming people because you don’t like it. Sure. Gender affirming care is a commonly used umbrella term. It doesn’t necessarily include surgery for minors, in fact that’s exceedingly rare. But it does have the unifying idea that a person be allowed to express the gender they most identify with.
