Pete Hegseth, who is less qualified than most of the members of the military he is leading, has now decided to take 2 blacks and 2 females off the promotion list. Officers who are more qualified than he is.

Hegseth Strikes Two Black and Two Female Officers From Promotion List

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s highly unusual decision to remove officers from a one-star promotion list has spurred allegations of racial and gender bias.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is blocking the promotion of four Army officers to be one-star generals, a highly unusual move that has prompted some senior military officials to question whether the officers are being singled out because of their race or gender.

Two of the officers targeted by Mr. Hegseth are Black and two are women on a promotion list that consists of about three dozen officers, most of whom are white men, senior military officials said.

Mr. Hegseth had been pressing senior Army leaders, including Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll, for months to remove the officers’ names, military officials said. But Mr. Driscoll, citing the officers’ decades-long records of exemplary service, had repeatedly refused.

Earlier this month, Mr. Hegseth broke the logjam by unilaterally striking the officers’ names from the list, though it is not clear he has the legal authority to do so. The list is currently being reviewed by the White House, which is expected to send it to the Senate for final approval. A few female and Black officers remain on the list, military officials said.

It is exceedingly rare that a one-star list draws such intense scrutiny from a defense secretary. The battle highlights the bitter rifts opened by Mr. Hegseth’s campaign to reverse policies that he says are prejudiced against white officers.

Mr. Hegseth has said repeatedly that he is determined to change a culture corrupted by “foolish,” “reckless” and “woke” leaders from previous administrations. But his heavy scrutiny, especially of female and minority officers, is eroding confidence in a promotion system that is supposed to be apolitical and merit based, his critics have said.

Hegseth was in either the National guard or Reserves, I can't remember which one. He never reached the rank of General. All 4 of these people are more qualified to run the defense department than Hegseth.

So we should promote every single black and every single woman up for promotion because they are black or a woman?

Apparently the only people who can be removed from the promotion list are white men.

Got it. Nope, not racist at all.

Nobody said "every single" black or female. Hyperbole much?

Should black and female soldiers be denied promotion based on the color of their skin or that they squat to pee even after decades of exceptional service?

Fallacy of over generalization. Where was "we should promote every single black and every single woman up for promotion because they are black or a woman?" inferred or suggestion.

Because the OP inferred that its racist and sexist to deny the promotion. Second sentence in the OP:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s highly unusual decision to remove officers from a one-star promotion list has spurred allegations of racial and gender bias.

So I'm asking if they must be promoted simply because they are black or a woman, or if not doing so is racist and sexist.

Pistol Pete has a right to deny promotions to anyone he wishes. Just like Trump has the right to pardon anyone he wishes.

If you have problems with that, consult your local lawmakers about changing the constitution.

No, that was your prejudiced conclusion, which is a Fallacy of Wrongful Misunderstanding.

No, read the ******* OP dumbass.

So is it racist and sexist to deny promotions to people you don't feel deserve them if they are black or women? Meaning, do blacks and women get special treatment that white males don't? Should they automatically get promotions because they are black or women?

That sentence was part of the article, so if you want to ask that question, ask the person who wrote that article

So we should promote every single black and every single woman up for promotion because they are black or a woman?

Should white people only ask that question when blacks and women are promoted, and never ask that question when white men are promoted?

To be promoted in the military, there are standards that have to be met.

***** Pete does not have the right to deny qualified blacks and women from promotion and only promote white men, which is what he has been doing. White men are not being cut out of anything. White men are 36 percent of the population; they should not be 60 or 70 percent of any job.

/-----/ IM2, you are not qualified to second-guess Secretary Hegseth, nor those women's qualifications.

These are the standards that must be met for promotion in the military. So you need to stop making the racist assumptions you continue making. White men have been the ones getting special treatment in this country, and you do not ask if white men are only getting promoted because they are white men. That has happened more than anything else. Hegseth is a prime example of it.

Yes, I am qualified. Hegseth works for us. His record shows he is less qualified than the people he denied promotion.

Were they DEI hires? Also, you say the promotion list consists of about three dozen officers, "most of whom are white". WTF? What that really means is "not all of them are white", you must have gone to that learing center.
