Hegseth defends returning Confederate monument to Arlington National Cemetery

Nice try Skippy

But that “peculiar institution” in the south predated the formation of the Democratic Party by 200 years
That “peculiar institution” has been a part of human culture since before the first civilization(s), thousands of years ago. And across the globe in most all cultures since then, and often to the present, sub-rosa (still exists in many Islamic 'cultures').

You Leftist really need to study and learn history a lot better than the feeble grasp you have.

Indeed it did. Still does, in fact. Baby steps, as they say. It took 100 years to pass the Civil Rights Act.
Don't mistake my "excusing" such.
Just pointing to overlooked history.
Slavery is a human "institution" predating* civilization and engaged by all races and ethnics. Historically no one is free of the "stain".

* Currently "slavery" exists in many societies, mostly the Islamic ones.

Yep. And then we figured out that slavery stuff was no bueno, after them. Which side do you think they would have been on? The side of the slaver traitors, or the side of preserving the union?
So now we can justify which statues to keep and which to tear down. So whose opinion do we go by? Who is the decider?

Wrong. I have fought city councils changing racist policies. You've done nothing but whine about being white on the internet. I will watch my real core American brothers and sisters in South Dakota fight for that abomination to be destroyed.
You'll die waiting.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth backed up his decision to return a Confederate monument to Arlington National Cemetery removed by “the woke lemmings” who have erased Confederate symbols from American culture.
Good. That's American history. Sadly the dems made it into a political/ethnic issue.

Like you said, no need to back up that decision. A man who does not know where he came from certainly then cannot know where he is going.

Definitely preserving the Union.

If they were in the Confederate Army they were traitors. It's that simple. Forgive the person , never forgive the abomination called the Confederacy.

But they were forgiven. You're ignorant of history and you're an idiot.

What about my thinking is warped?
You are so gullible you put your faith into one of the biggest con.men in.the history of the country. His designs are not in the best interest of this country. He was a draft dodger. He was even a flunkie in military school..He gained a little rank and then started putting his work on the subordinates. The only reason he wasn't kicked out of the school was because his dad gave the school so.much money they didn't feel it was in their best interest to kick him out. So they told him.they were giving him a promotion and moved him into a non- leadership role where he couldn't dump his work on the other cadets. He has always been a lazy good for nothing creepy guy. And he's very devious. He'll leave you thinking he's your best friend but in the end it's all about him at your expense. I never personally met him nor would I want to but he has hurt other family members of mine. He is racist He is just plain not a good person and no one in their right mind should ever trust him to do the right thing. He doesn't know what that is. If this doesn't help you see him for what he really is I can't help you. He burns everyone he touches. And he's touching our whole country. That's really bad news. Good luck you're ( we're all ) going to need it.

That was extended to people , not the Confederacy. There's a big difference.

Correct.

It is telling that the "confederate flag", that is the most used symbol of the confederacy,

is actually a battle flag, not one of the actual national flags of the confederacy.

It is odd when large groups make "decisions", but it is telling that the symbol that became a symbol of regional pride as part of the larger US patriotism,

is a symbol of the south's primary fighting force, and NOT one of the symbols of the POLITICAL GOVERNMENT of the rebellion.

The meaning is clear. This is about the PEOPLE, as you said, not the POLICIES or GOALS of the rebellion.

It is a BIG DIFFERENCE.

So, let's not play dumb and ignore that difference.

Lame….they did it too excuse

By 1860, most of the civilized world had moved away from slavery.
The US doubled down as the South fought a war to preserve it
Even more troubling was the US enforcing Jim Crow segregation for a hundred years after
