What did you watch on the weekends growing up?

Not much to choose from since there was no such thing as cable TV or Blockbuster yet.

Most programs on the weekends were geared for adults. Granted, some were fun to watch or interesting enough to watch and learn something. But from what I remember, this is why us kids stayed outside till bedtime on the weekends, because there was very little FOR kids to watch.

The final Hee-Haw episode was just before my tenth birthday and so I don't remember all that much about the show other than it being a show for country music to play. :) :) :)

God bless you always!!!

Roy Clark, Buck Owens, Minnie Pearl, Grandpa Jones, Junior Samples---they were great! Really funny in spite of the cornball. Wish we had TV like that now.

I like me some Hee Haw, yeah I do.

Are you kidding? Growing up was the heyday of television. It was quality programming 24/7. No need for cable.
Growing up, I watched the best of the best there ever was on TV:
  • The Honeymooners
  • The Dick Van Dyke Show
  • Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea
  • The Outer Limits
  • The Twilight Zone
  • Lost In Space
  • Star Trek
  • Batman
  • Fireball XL5
  • The Thunderbirds
  • The Flintstones
  • The Jetsons
  • The Fantastic Four
  • The Beverly Hillbillies
  • Laugh In
  • All In The Family
With many an honorable mention possible in between.

The Flintstones

That was LATE Flintstones. Great Gazoo. The Early Flintstones were the best before Bam Bam and Pebbles and all that.

I am a lover of stereos and here is Fred rocking on a stone age Hi-Fi in full Cave-A-Phonic sound.

My folks sat me down to watch chitty chitty bang bang.

They got to the point where the child catcher was looking for kids...and I was like WTF?

My dad told me he catches children...I said "for what"?

He said "for being children".

I said...what kind of sick garbage are you watching!

I walked out of the TV room disgusted with the both of them, as he & my mom were busting a gut laughing. :)

The Carol Burnett show was a family watched show.
Sony and Cher and their awkward television divorce was another.

My favorites at the time, Kojak, Streets of San Francisco, Kung Fu, 6 Million Dollar man, Starsky and Hutch, and can't forget the good old Duke boys out having some good times.

Oh, and watching the Vikings never win a Super Bowl. That is still happening now.
