Heart Rate Monitors

If anybody can recommend a good wrist watch HRM that does not require a chest strap, I would appreciate it. I have done some reading on them, but it is all very, very confusing.

My wife wants this for Christmas and time is running out....

From what I gather, the ones that do not use a chest strap don't work all that well.... anybody have an idea?
