Has your doctor ever discussed your "health and lifestyle" with you?

The silence is...deafening. :omg:

I have an "issue" with my heart that has for many decades made my doctors believe that I had a significant heart problem. Both my PCP and my cardiologist told me to be cautious about exercise. When I would tell them that I'm a runner and bicyclist they would neither encourage nor discourage those activities. In fact, they couldn't understand how I could be a runner and/or a bicyclist with my defective heart.

Eventually though, an angiogram revealed that I DO NOT have a heart problem, but rather my left ventricle has an unusual shape that results in a sketchy looking EKG. Now, at 75, they encourage me to "keep it up" because whatever I'm doing seems to be keeping me above ground.

Yeah. Colonoscopy and semi-annual dermatologist exams are all I've had in the way of doctor visits the last couple of years. They both talked with me some about that.

Many times, yes. Ten years ago, the doctor wanted me to quit smoking, so I did. Nowadays, he is trying to get me off sugar and processed foods. Meanwhile, I am on more medication than you can shake a stick at. What’s the difference between a doctor and an illegal drug dealer? Answer: A license! LOL

I just think that many doctors put far too much emphasis on regulating people’s “habits” and not enough on just letting people live.

I think that doctors should, at the very least, inform their patients about the fundamentals of good health. They should also be in the schools (special auds) teaching kids this as well.

Absolutely correct, in all seriousness.

I was just letting off a little steam. It’s just sometimes frustrating, being on a pill for everything in the book (well, almost). But, it’s all good - I will live much longer, than if I wasn’t on all this stuff.

I got off mine and am doing quite well. Of course I could croak at any moment. :omg:

LOL - may you live forever and prosper.

I may be able to get off at least some of mine, if I lost some weight and fully adopted a wellness lifestyle.

I know what you are saying. We all could go at any time.

Glad you’re doing well!
