I haven't pulled a lever since 1972 or used a punch card machine since about 1980.

we used to use a machine with levers. these new pushbutton contraptions have been around for decades.

The only "levers" we ever had was the one you pulled so a curtain would cover the voting booth behind you.

That lever also registered your vote and cleared your choices when you opened the curtain.

Perhaps, I don't remember....We did use paper ballots though.

I used one of those mechanical voting machines until about five years ago.

I still like them better than the computer punch card we have now

My first time was the election in 2000 and every time including that one, I was taken to a computerized set up where you just press buttons.
