I considered it, but my thinking is that I'd want to reach to a rabbi first. Perhaps if I visit Israel one day I will meet up with those truly committed to the 613 Mitzvoh.

We do have one in town but it is never very busy. One might stick out like a sore thumb if they were a Noahide visitor etc. I've watched a few on youtube and follow a few prominent rabbis.

I did not stick out.
With my Käppi I looked so Jewish that I was taken for a Rabbi. 😀

whether you are jewish or not
I have been to a Reform Jewish synagogue several times. I've also been to a Chabad Jewish synagogue. I have also been to a Messianic Jewish congregation back home in Nova Scotia, Canada. I really enjoyed them all but I usually just take my wife to whatever church she wants to go to. She could apply for her Israeli citizenship based on her mom's last name but she hasn't made any move in that direction so far.

what does her mom's last name have to do with anything?

My wife can simply apply for her Spanish citizenship based on her mom's Jewish last name. Spain did this to attempt to make up for kicking out their Jews around the year 1500. The same last names that qualify a citizen of Ecuador for their Spanish citizenship based on that criteria, can also be used to apply for Israeli citizenship, [if she wanted it]?

All you have to do is have a last name?

Getting Israeli citizenship is a bit more of an in depth process.
