In watching these old NFL games that Landry coached,I notice that Danny White not only was their quarterback but he PUNTED as well.that he was also their punter. That is UNHEARD of in the NFL.you will never ever see that happen again in the future. Was White the only player NFL history have both those duties? I never heard of anybody else ever doing that you?

I saw this on the Niners in the past but it was due to the punter getting hurt and not having a back up. I forget who the QB was at the time though. Seems it happened in the early 90s.

Back in the day, a team didn’t waste a roster spot on kickers.
HOF QB George Blanda also kicked for the Raiders for many, many years
HOF QB Sammy Baugh was also a great Punter

Randall Cunningham........with his famous 91 yard punt.
He did that against my Giants.
Close game and we had him pinned down near the End Zone and Buddy lets Cunningham punt.

That 91 yarder broke open the game

My high school was so small we played in the 2-man football league--one on offense and one on defense. So, it was common for the quarterback to also be the punter. The NFL has a lot more players on each team. Way more than two. So, you're right, it is weird they would have to put the same player in two different positions.

Of course, the Dallas Cowboys were notoriously cheap. They always took the team bus to away games and made the players bring their own lunches and would arrive in the parking lot just before the game started so they didn't have to pay for hotel rooms. They did have the best cheerleaders though, but made them also wash the team uniforms (which the players had to pay for themselves) and other stuff suitable for women's work.

when I was in jr high, to kill time we used to play "our" version of what's on my line.
This one kid that had just moved in from ohio would always say he was Lou Groza
I always played Dorothy Kilgallen
LOL, I liked Bennett Cerf and of course who could forget MC Garry Moore.

Randall Cunningham punted on occasion.

yeah high school you expect that or college as well but NOT in the NFL thats for sure and man,you aint kidding, the team that i really hated because they wore their fucking ROAD jerseys for all their home games, they did indeed have the best cheerleaders, the other team i hated equally as much for moving away from oaktown, the raiders, were the one team out there whose cheerleaders rivaled the fagboyus for best cheerleaders im afraid.

as did some really old timers as well i never would have known about. Bob Waterfield,Sammy Baugh,George Blanda and Tom Tupa. Understandable i was not aware of those guys sense they are old timers except tupa, but I was not aware Cunningham did it as well.very interesting. the dallas fagboys i hated so much its sickening so thats how i was not aware of danny white punting, but i never knew that about cunningham which surprises me sense i did not hate them and he was not before my time as the others were.

Like i said, that wont ever happen again in the future in the NFL.those days are over with.
