I watched it last night and was quite impressed. Robert Downey, Jr. is excellent, as are Geraldine Chaplin and Kevin Kline. If you've seen this film what is your opinion of it?

I enjoyed it. Downey was good. However, I found the movie didn't really show the genius of Chaplin, as an actor, a director, a musician, an artist, a composer, and a writer.

His 1952 sound movie, Limelight won an academy award for the music which he wrote. The movie which he starred in, wrote, directed, and produced has won critical acclaim over the years. At the time it was released, it was boycotted because of claims that he was a communist which was not true. I enjoyed it but like many of his other movies it was too long.

Chaplin went on to produce, direct, and write several popular sound movies. In later years he was a conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

IMHO, Chaplin was probably the most multi-talented person of the 20th century.

Listen to the theme from Limelight. Chances are you have heard it many times but never recognized. It is often a favorite of jazz groups and has been used in other movies and several ballets.

Very good film.

Does underplay or try to excuse Chaplin's affinity for young girls, though. His second wife was only 16 when he married her after knocking her up.
