I lived there for 5 years with my family, and what seemed odd to me, an outsider, seemed to satisfy the native Californians. They have an abiding desire to please the celebrities who hadve experimental humanitarian thesuses. It works for most of them.

I was very young back then. Kids aren't too concerned about their same-aged college buds when their parents move out of state, and I was working hard to make my parents happy with my grade cards at the end of the terms. I carried a full plate of work constantly that year.
