He screwed up the company and now he’s out

I looked up his bio and found he was a german in charge of an iconic American company

Screw that

We want Americans for America

Nobody wants those overpriced, overweight, low horsepower, unreliable bikes. Trump 1.0 tariffs forced them to try and appeal to innovative technology by building bikes in Thailand. You can also put blame on Willie D.

Mission impossible.

Take a brand whose target market is literally dying off, and those who are not dying are giving up their MC's because of age-related difficulties.

The cost to produce the traditional large cruisers has made them unaffordable to working-class young men who would otherwise be very interested.

While I don't follow them closely, it seems to me that the newest version of the Sportster is a bike that anyone would be happy to own. The performance is excellent, it looks great, and it sounds great. What more could anyone want?

One of the problems of selling the new touring bikes is that they are almost indistinguishable visually from the bikes of the past 30 years. To me, the headlights are the only noticeable difference. So why would anyone pay thirty grand for a new Electra Glide when you can get one ten years old that looks the same, with very low miles, for half the price?

And of course, the competition keeps getting better.

I don't blame the German guy. NOBODY could have turned the company around under these conditions.

Yes, they aren't very desirable. Another issue is the way the engines are designed, by design, they vibrate like hell. Their pistons are not symmetrically offset on the crank. So it gives the engine that classic Harley sound, and classic Harley vibration. I've had riders tell me that the bike vibrates so bad at interstate speeds they lose feeling in their hands.

I bought a Ninja ZX6R for 1/3 the price of a Harley. It weighs half as much, has three times the horsepower and is very nimble. Not to mention, the bike idles like a sewing machine. You can't beat the 636 4 banger. They've perfected that design for over 25 years. I love just hearing it idle. It sounds like it's got 500 horsepower.

I used to own Harley’s, I wouldn’t own them again. Haven’t in a long time overpriced and I can’t justify it based on the quality and performance.

From what I’m told he’s a flaming globalist DEI, transgender loving lib right down to his pink underwear

Whether the decline is at least partially due to his mismanagement or not does not matter

I still want him to get the blame

I think you are wrong about the vibration thing, at least the ones I've ridden. They vibrate when sitting still and idling, but it smooths out once you gain any speed. And the engine is relatively isolated from the frame. Those complaints are 40 years old.

As for performance, what do you want? They are not sport bikes and nobody expects them to be. They will never perform as well as a Goldwing, but I've never heard of anyone who bought an E'glide and got rid of it because it was too slow.

And like it or not NOTHING sounds as good as a Harley. Even with stock pipes they sound great.

WADR, I've had multiple Harley riders tell me the same thing. I can SEE their bikes vibrating as they pass me in my big rig.

If you looked him up, you would know he turned around Harley-Davidson and Puma before that.

Trump's tariffs are about to destroy Harley-Davidson.

Old ones were not any better.....You would think it's a Brit company.
I have a 2014 softail slim and its mostly care free but then the master computer chip went out and the diagnosis alone was $1200.... the parts and labor was $5000... and worse than the cost it was in the shop for 4 weeks...

LOL.....The guy next door fixes HDs as a side gig and I asked him why he has a BMW. He said his customers can empty their pockets, he is done with owning a HD.

You are kidding right?... Harley wants to sell bikes in Europe and Asia... when the tariffs cause other nations to make trade deals Harley has a chance...
If you go to Germany you will see a lot of bikers on all kinds of bikes... but they all want Harley's... they want them so bad they will buy the bike by the piece and build it in their garage...
