Ghazi Hamad, a senior member of the Hamas politburo, told Al Jazeera over the weekend that the wave of Western nations moving to recognize a Palestinian state is the result of “the fruits” of Hamas’ October 7, 2023, massacre.

In a clip of his interview with the outlet yesterday, Hamad asked the interviewer: “Why are all the countries recognizing a Palestinian state today? Before October 7, did any country dare recognize a Palestinian state?”

He continues: “The fruits of October 7 are what caused the entire world to open its eyes to the Palestinian issue — and they are moving toward it with force. That is, that the Palestinian people are a people who deserve a country.”

Dozens of countries had recognized Palestinian statehood prior to the October 7 attack, though in recent weeks, many more have taken steps in that direction, including a number of major Israeli allies, citing the need to bring an end to the war in Gaza.

Responding to Hamad’s remarks, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar — who has argued that unilateral recognition at this time “rewards terror” — called out France, the United Kingdom, and Canada for announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September, asking rhetorically in a post on X: “If this [is] who applauds you — what does it say about you?”

Britain, France, Canada and Hamas apparently all think alike.

They prolong the war because they're weak little bitches..... Maybe Macron can go over there and give Hamas lessons on how to surrender

Israel had the sympathy of most of the world after Oct. 7th but they managed to squander it with their over reaction against Palestinian civilians. They have only themselves to blame.

Palestinian civilians.

Hamas imbedded amongst civilians. Tunnel entrances and weapons stored under the beds of children. Rockets fired towards Israel from houses and apartments. Cowardly Hamas dressed up as civilians. Not even the guts to wear uniforms, as they did during those ghastly hostage release pantomime performances.

How would you react if your country had been invaded and subject to unspeakable acts of barbarism? And they pledged to do it again.

Obviously with the tacit approval of Western nations, and armchair warriors.

anti-israel Jew hate protest started before Israel even invaded Gaza right after October 7th were you one of those?🤔

I know. Outside Sydney Harbour Bridge, they were chanting “gas the Jews” before the IDF began hostilities.

Deranged!

I don't defend Hamas, I only recognize that not every Palestinian is Hamas. What Hamas did pales in comparison to what the Nazis did but, once they were defeated, we didn't make Germany unlivable and try to get the German people to leave the country.

3 million German civilians were killed during world war II ... After that there was a thing called the Berlin Wall and East and West Germany for nearly 50 years... next 👍🏼

She is so right!

Apples and oranges. Recall that we installed a democratic government while the Russians installed a puppet government. It sounds like Israel wants a puppet government to replace Hamas. Didn't work out so well for the Russians now did it.

In the future, please respond to what I write or don't respond at all. (Unrelated rants don't make you look good.)

Why do you make comparisons? There is no moral equivalence in this.

“What Hamas did pales in comparison to what the Nazis did”
You sure about that?

Yes, I'm sure. The Palestinians have legitimate complaints about how they have been treated by Israel and they see Hamas, as bad as they are, as being on their side. The Nazis were motivated by pure hate and anti-Semitism and saw genocide as their solution.

We’re done.
