I thought that I already posted about this story and movie, but I guess not. I don't know what it is about dogs, but you just won't get the same kind of loyalty in any other animal. This is a very good movie, but also a tearjerker so be sure to have your tissues handy. It's also based upon a true story.

The real Hachiko.

I first saw this movie about 15 years ago, and couldn’t get over it for weeks. My heart breaks even now, just thinking about it.

I don't understand why they couldn't just let the dog see and sniff his owner. Then at least the poor doggy could have gotten closure. It's still an amazing story but I just didn't get that part.

Agree. That poor dog.

A lot of the time they'll bring dogs to their owner's funerals so they can see them and sniff them in the casket for that very reason. Dogs are highly intelligent so they figure it out pretty quickly what happened to their owner. They'll still grieve but they get the concept of the fact that their owner is gone then at least.

I watched that movie on a trip with my daughter for her college visit. I am not proud to say I cried more during that movie than I ever have in my life. I will NEVER watch that movie again. It is just too hard to take.

You'll want to skip Greyfriar's Bobby then...
