However, the coalition of international doctors pushed back, stating, "This claim is not supported by the best available evidence."

"As experienced professionals involved in direct care for the rapidly growing numbers of gender-diverse youth, the evaluation of medical evidence or both, we were surprised by the Endocrine Society's claims about the state of evidence for gender-affirming care for youth," the doctors wrote.

The letter stated that the "evidence for mental-health benefits of hormonal interventions for minors to be of low or very low certainty," but its "risks are significant." The doctors explained that the risks involved with hormone treatment on children include "sterility, lifelong dependence on medication and the anguish of regret."

No patients under the age of 18 can have ANY MEDICAL TREATMENT without their parents consent. That’s the law and it’s always being the law.

No one can be surgically transitioned until they are physically an adult. The surgery won’t take, and it will have to be repeated if the patient is not physically mature.

Among teens, “top surgery” to remove breasts is more common. In the three years ending in 2021, at least 776 mastectomies were performed in the United States on patients ages 13 to 17 with a gender dysphoria diagnosis, according to Komodo’s data analysis of insurance claims. This tally does not include procedures that were paid for out of pocket.

For children at this age and stage of development, puberty-blocking medications are an option. These drugs, known as GnRH agonists, suppress the release of the sex hormones testosterone and estrogen. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the drugs to treat prostate cancer, endometriosis and central precocious puberty, but not gender dysphoria. Their off-label use in gender-affirming care, while legal, lacks the support of clinical trials to establish their safety for such treatment.

Over the last five years, there were at least 4,780 adolescents who started on puberty blockers and had a prior gender dysphoria diagnosis.

The mere fact that we have teachers not only affirming but even encouraging such behaviors among school children is appalling. Having surgery is the next logical step to affirm these dysphorias.

By the way, in what world do doctors affirm a dysphoria? If you go to the doctor and tell them you need weight loss surgery at 5’4” 80 pounds, they will likely diagnose you with an eating disorder like anorexia, not take out part of your stomach. If you are a boy but have the false sense that you are a girl, that is a mental disorder that needs to be treated, not affirmed.
