Looks like they've caught another crooked Democrat...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee state senator was indicted Thursday on dozens of counts of stealing more than $600,000 in federal funds received by a health care school she directed and using the money to pay for personal items and expenses.

A federal grand jury in Memphis handed down the indictment against Democratic state Sen. Katrina Robinson, one day after the U.S. attorney’s office unsealed a criminal complaint alleging she used grant money earmarked for health care worker training to pay for her wedding and honeymoon, home improvements, a Jeep Renegade for her daughter, her children’s snow cone business, a campaign event, legal fees for her divorce, and other things.

The indictment includes 24 counts of theft and embezzlement involving government programs, and 24 counts of wire fraud, U.S. attorney Michael Dunavant said in a statement.

Robinson, a Democrat elected to the General Assembly in 2018 from a Memphis district, is the director of The Healthcare Institute, which provides training for health care industry jobs, prosecutors said.

The Memphis-based school received more than $2.2 million in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The FBI said Robinson took $600,000 from the school’s operating account.

If convicted, Robinson faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison. Robinson would be up for re-election in 2022.

I somehow get the feeling that the charges will be dropped or reduced.

At the most, she might get probation.

Any attempt to punish her would raise yells of the R-word.

Responsible Americans do not first look for the party affiliation before deciding if a corrupt politician is guilty. If it's true she should go to jail for fraud. Good riddance.

The LAST thing the Blacks need with the BLM fiasco in full swing is a scandal in an elected office. I mean the BLM crowd is doing a great job @ current of moving themselves back into a 1950's Selma Alabamy atmosphere as 2nd class citizens, like they don't need any help from an elected Black woman to speed up the process.

I believe much of the BLM “summer of love” fiasco involves black mayors. And if not dumb black mayors and district attorneys then clueless Karens of the liberal white persuasion

but democrats hold majorities in the cities so incompetence is never held to account

Actually, the Democrats in Memphis have a record of criminal behavior, so this is not surprising...

John Newton Ford (born May 3, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee), is a former democratic member of the Tennessee State Senate and a member of Tennessee's most prominent African-American political family. He is the older brother of former U.S. Representative Harold Ford, Sr. and the uncle of former Tennessee U.S. Representative and 2006 United States Senate candidate Harold Ford, Jr.

In April 2007, Ford was convicted of federal bribery as part of the Operation Tennessee Waltz scandal. He served 52 months of a 66-month sentence in U.S. federal prison, from April 2008 to August 2012.[1] Ford resigned from the Tennessee State Senate on May 28, 2005, in a letter to Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee, John S. Wilder.

Bribery conviction[edit]

On May 26, 2005, Ford was arrested by the FBI, along with two other Tennessee state senators, a Tennessee state representative, a former state senator, a Chattanooga school board member, and an African-American political activist, for alleged participation in a bribery scheme utilizing a "sting" operation involving a bogus electronics recycling company lobbying for favorable treatment under state law.[2] Known as Operation Tennessee Waltz, the sting operation resulted in multiple charges being brought against Ford and other politicians. His arrest came the day after his nephew Harold Ford, Jr., announced his candidacy for the United States Senate.

On April 27, 2007, Ford was convicted by a federal jury in Memphis of accepting $55,000 in bribes. The jury deadlocked on the more serious charge of extortion, creating a mistrial on that count. He was acquitted on three counts of witness intimidation.[3]

On August 28, 2007, Ford was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison, to be followed by two years of supervised release. He was also facing corruption charges in Nashville, Tennessee for accepting bribes totaling more than $800,000 from medical contractors doing business with the state.

Politicians of both parties have a record of criminal behavior everywhere.

That is true, but Democrats have a much bigger record of criminal behavior. Almost every one of these corrupt politician stories involves a democrat.

She should go to prison.
