$17B to rebuild property and infrastructure
$5B for debris clean up
$10B for grants to homeowners and businesses$5B for homeowner and business loans
$4B for "recovery grants"
$2B low-income housing tax credits.

To understand the magnitude of this HUGE request, each line item was divided by the 16,250 structures destroyed by the as-yet-unexplained fires.

$1M to rebuild property and infrastructure
$300k for debris clean up
$615k for grants to homeowners and businesses
$308k for homeowner and business loans
$246k for "recovery grants"

That adds up to $2.5M per household!

I would have FEMA work directly with the homeowners/insurance companies bypassing the State entirely. They have proven they do not know how to manage projects (tasks, schedule and budgets).

He and all his democrats caused the damage, and now he wants the rest of America to pay for it...As long as he and his kind are in power it will happen again and again and again.

FEMA does work with homeowners personally..They hold weeks of interviews with people wanting to make a claim at local hotel conference rooms, just as they did when the tornado hit NW Arkansas last May.

$2.5 million per house is about right for Pacific Palisades ... the lots there are selling at over $1 million right this minute ... it's been in the mid-70's and sunny all week long there ... here's what it looked like before the fire ... see any $2.5 million homes or are they all more costly? ...

What would Jennifer Ashton say?

I wouldn't allow the government of CA to touch any of the money.

Let the DOGE handle the accounting and find the most efficient way to allocate the funds

Maybe Newsom should get rid of the illegals infesting his state and fire the LA Mayor for dereliction of duty.

Why not just give them all a million-dollar house in Texas free of charge and call it a day, saving the taxpayer about half that while moving them out of an area that will just have more fires in the future?

I had a house destroyed by severe weather years ago. I didnt get one penny from the federal government. Why in the hell should I pay for rich peoples houses getting destroyed?
Because.................because.................................................because...................................................................................that's why.

Damn your eyes!!

Stop asking so many questions.

Let Californians pay for the shit show they voted for.

Maybe California shouldn't have wasted billions on a train to nowhere

Repurpose the high-speed rail slush fund.

That is their standard MO for everything. They completely control their state legislature and pass pretty much everything they want and yet they have the most income and wealth inequality, the most homelessness, the most crime, the most social injustice, and yet they say that all of those things are the fault of the rich and the federal government, even though they completely control their own legislature.

Nre York is no better. And with the current situation with the corrections officers, we were reminded how much of a tyrant Queen Bee Kathy is.
