My first relative to come to North America in the 1600s
I'm sure others besides Leif saw the continent. Erickson did not claim to discover a new continent. Did he? If so, link.According to history,
1000 A.D., almost 500 years before Columbus
The Vikings, led by Leif Erickson, reached North America around 1000 A.D., almost 500 years before Columbus1. They used their longships to cross the Atlantic Ocean and settled in the Americas2. Archaeological discoveries have shown that they had traveled farther south to areas where grapes grew, to Vinland3. The Norse exploration of North America began in the late 10th century, with settlements in Greenland and Newfoundland4.

Memories? LOLI always loved to study history since my youth.
Do you have the answer to your question?
I'm older now and don't keep notes, so prove my memory is wrong.
Facts not agendas please.
btw, you appear to be the one here with an agenda. Why would you turn that around?I always loved to study history since my youth.

Okay.
History does not say Leif Erickson "discovered" America. When we use "discovered" in this context it does not mean nobody knew North America existed, just that European societies were unaware of the continent.
