Yeah this whole Pocahontas is a racial slur meme doesn't make sense. How is it a racial slur to call a white woman Pocahontas? Moreover when did it become a racial slur? Was Pocahontas's husband a racist ever time he called his wife's name?
Juvenile and immature? Sure. Racial slur? Come on
Norwood,
per NBC: "The reference is using a historic American Indian figure as a derogatory insult and that's insulting to all American Indians." The President should "stop using our historical people of significance as a racial slur against one of his opponents."
An historic Native American, Pocohontas, is having her name used negatively as a slur against someone Trump doesn't like. He's using it as an insult, a bad joke, and at the same time demeaning the actual Pocohontas by referencing her that way--as a cheap joke.
THAT's how it's a racial slur. Native American groups have made this clear ever since Trump started calling Eliz. Warren "Pocohontas," but Trump has determinedly ignored that it is offensive to them. Whether or not he "gets it," that should have been enough to zip his lip about this.
