MAGA's primary "defense" when Trump does something like this is to deflect by pointing elsewhere. Their point is that, if someone else does something wrong, Trump is fully justified in doing something wrong times 1,000.

No matter how blatant it is, if someone has done something similar at a microscopic degree, Trump didn't do nuffin'. What he's doing now is essentially anything he wants.

This is a cult, airtight, fully insulated, and they will defend him no matter what he does. Even if it is to THEM, as we are about to see.
