I swear, I mistyped fine by typing fime.....Spell check comes up with:

fame
feme
fume

Now I know it's no mind reader but since the N and M are next to each other on a keyboard you would think that would be baked-in with the spell check algorithm.

We should start a thread of ridiculous interpretations that Google Voice makes when it doesn't understand what people say. I've seen some really bizarre and funny shit! And sometimes it's stuff that if I hadn't checked it and just hit "send", some recipient would have been like "What in the actual **** is this guy smokin'???"

I will use spell check as a preliminary. If I have an important document, then I read it slowly. Then, I read the document backwards. I don't focus on flow, content, etc. when reading backwards. I am strictly looking at spelling. It can be tedious and I have to take breaks for precision.

Today, a good spell checkers looks at the context not just the word. For example if you wrote; This is really a fine steak. A good spell checker would know that you are using the word as a modifier, an adjective. So it would not present you with any of those words because the sentence would not make sense. Instead, it would look for adjectives that would make sense describing a steak. It would compare those words to what you typed and then present you a list.

Like just about everything, spell checkers are using AI.
