INSIDE INFO ON GUN-CONTROL BILLS

TO BE INTRODUCED IN JANUARY

Virginia Citizens Defense League has inside information on a few of the gun-control bills that are going to be introduced in January. Democrat gun-controllers are intentionally delaying the introduction of bad gun-control bills, as they are hoping to keep gun owners from showing up in large numbers at Lobby Day. They do NOT want that massive and embarrassing 2020 rally to happen again, so they want gun owners to feel complacent, like nothing bad is going happen, since only two gun-control bills have shown up so far.

We must NOT fall into that trap!

Gun-control is not about fighting crime. Let me be crystal clear, government wants to take away our guns, one way or the other. It’s death by a thousand cuts. Here are a few of the bad bills that are coming in January:

  • AR-15 ban with magazine limitations. This is about taking away our guns by definition
  • Red Flag law expansion, likely to allow more people to abuse red flag laws against gun owners. This is about taking away our guns, either temporarily or indefinitely, depending on the judge
  • Permit to purchase. This is about discouraging gun ownership and/or reducing gun sales through red tape, time, and cost:
    • To be introduced in both the House and the Senate in the first week of the General Assembly session in January
    • The quiet part said out loud: the goal is to greatly reduce the number of gun owners and to discourage the purchase of any firearms. The lies we are told: this is to reduce crime, gun-trafficking, shootings by police (!?), and suicides
    • The permit is required to purchase a firearm
    • It will need to be renewed every 5 years
    • The permit will likely not be made available to anyone under 21
    • It will require fingerprints, run by either the Virginia State Police or local police, even on renewals
    • The permit requires the applicant to take a government approved training course taught by a government approved instructor
    • The training will most likely be longer and more involved than the training to get a concealed handgun permit
    • The training will require live fire. The live fire component alone will increase the cost of the training and greatly limit the availability of classes, since many ranges don’t allow the range to be used by instructors that are not employed by the range
    • There will likely be a $50 fee for the privilege of having a purchase permit
    • Application can take up to 45 days to be processed!
    • The law will likely go into effect on January 1, 2027
    • NICS background check will still be run when you purchase a firearm, and there will likely be a five-day waiting period on purchases.
    • A person who needs to buy their first gun in an emergency won’t be able to do so for at least a month, if not two months
    • Poor people will be priced out of the market, as they will have to pay for fingerprinting, the permit fee, and training, which will be expensive due to the live fire training requirement and associated reduction in available instructors.

Virginia voters elected someone who called for the death of his political opponent and their children.

They voted for fascism, which was why Hitler was the first to introduce gun control in Nazi Germany.

They are clearing the path for their tyranny.

As a result, I have zero compassion for the entire state of Virginia. Screw'em!!!!

I'm also glad you don't live in Virginia.

**** you asshole, I did not vote for them and I voted.

This is 100% about deporting ALL illegals and Israel. The GOP is on the wrong side of 70-30 on both. That needs to change immediately or 2025 will repeat in 2026.

Democrats hate the right to keep and bear arms - they believe the state should have a monopoly on force, which cannot happen while the citizenry remains armed.
Thus, they make it as hard as they possibly can to exercise the right to keep and bear arms, as they hope people will not bother to try.

They are exactly the people the Founders intended to 2nd Amendment to protect us from, and validate its existence with every breath they take.

Republican cites are like Bedford Falls. Democrat cities are like Potterville.

**** you asshole, I did not vote for them and I voted.

You seem like a good dude. Did you read what Virginia plans to do? It is like East Germany under the Stasi Communists. Better hide your guns and do not talk about gun ownership anywhere. Anyone who doesn't like you could report to the Stasi.

Have fun Virginia. :bye1:

The Democrats are the fascists.
They try to flip the script but the facts don't back them up.
The Democrats are the fascists.

Top-Ranked Big Cities (Population > 1 Million):
  • San Jose, CA: Frequently ranked #1, known for low violent crime, property crime, and overdose rates.

    • Los Angeles, CA: Appears high on lists (often #2) with lower crime than expected for its size.
    • Fort Worth, TX: A consistent top performer with moderate crime and low overdose deaths.
    • Omaha, NE: Ranks well due to balanced safety metrics.
    • Arlington, TX & El Paso, TX: Strong Texas contenders with good crime and health indicators.
    • San Diego, CA & Phoenix, AZ: Also appear in top lists for safety among large cities.

We don't need your compassion, we have facts:

what is the correlation between gun control laws and crime in the us

The correlation between gun control laws and crime in the United States is a complex and often debated subject. Research generally indicates a negative correlation—meaning that states with more restrictive gun laws tend to have lower rates of gun-related deaths—though the impact varies significantly depending on the specific type of law and the category of crime being measured.

📊 Broad Statistical Trends

Most major public health studies (from institutions like Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and the CDC) find that states with the highest rankings for gun law "strength" consistently report the lowest rates of firearm mortality.

  • The "Grade" Correlation: Organizations like the Giffords Law Center often grade states on their gun laws. States with "A" grades (e.g., California, Massachusetts, Hawaii) typically have firearm death rates that are 2–4 times lower than states with "F" grades (e.g., Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming).

Gun Deaths vs. Violent Crime: The correlation is strongest when looking at total gun deaths, which include suicides (about 55-60% of all US gun deaths). The link between gun laws and violent crime (robbery, aggravated assault) is more nuanced and often influenced by outside factors like poverty and urban density.

✅ Laws Most Strongly Correlated with Lower Crime

Research from the RAND Corporation and other academic bodies suggests that certain policies have a more measurable impact on crime reduction than others:
  • Universal Background Checks: Associated with a 15% reduction in homicide rates in some multi-decade studies.

  • Permit-to-Purchase Laws: Laws requiring a state-issued license to buy a gun show a strong correlation with lower homicide and suicide rates.

  • Safe Storage/Child Access Prevention (CAP): These laws are most strongly linked to reductions in accidental shootings and youth suicides.

  • Domestic Violence Restraining Orders: Prohibiting gun possession for those with active restraining orders is associated with a decrease in intimate partner homicides.

⚠️ Laws Correlated with Increased Violence

Conversely, certain "permissive" gun laws are often correlated with an increase in violent outcomes:

Stand Your Ground: Numerous studies have found that these laws are associated with a significant increase in homicides (statistically ranging from 8% to 11% in some states).
  • Right-to-Carry (Concealed Carry): While historically debated (e.g., the "More Guns, Less Crime" theory), more recent research using updated panel data suggests that "Shall-Issue" laws increase violent crime and firearm robberies by 13–15% over time.

🧩 Confounding Factors and Limitations

The correlation is not always a direct line of "more laws = less crime" due to several complicating factors:

  • The "Iron Pipeline": States with strict laws (like Illinois or New York) often see crime committed with guns trafficked from states with weaker laws (like Indiana or Virginia). This "leakage" can mask the effectiveness of local legislation.
  • Socioeconomic Drivers: Factors such as poverty, income inequality, and education levels are often stronger predictors of homicide rates than the presence or absence of specific gun laws.
  • Enforcement vs. Legislation: Some criminologists argue that police effectiveness and community violence intervention programs have a more immediate impact on crime rates than the passage of new statutes.
  • Deterrence Debate: Proponents of fewer restrictions argue that armed citizens act as a deterrent to criminals. While there are documented cases of defensive gun use, aggregate research generally finds that higher firearm availability correlates with higher rates of lethal conflict rather than lower crime.

Why do the states with the weaker gun laws see lower rates of gun-related crime than the localities their guns 'leak' into?

You mean the vile dems in Virginia.

You mean the vile dems in Virginia.
I may be a vile dem from Virginia but I don't want to take your guns any more than I want to take your car. I just want both to be used safely and not endanger others.

Yes, but not to be unkind, this is what your fellow Virginians voted for. This is what they want. Democracy in action.

This is my sheriff in Florida. This is what Virginia used to be. God bless where I live now.

What does correlation prove?
Correlation tells us the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two variables, indicating if they tend to move together (positive), in opposite directions (negative), or not at all (zero).

Why do the states with the weaker gun laws see lower rates of gun-related crime than the localities their guns 'leak' into?
Do they? The premise that states with weaker gun laws consistently have lower gun crime than areas their guns leak into is often challenged by data showing states with weaker laws often have higher violence, but the situation is complex, involving urban vs. rural dynamics (less crime in rural, low-density states despite weak laws), socioeconomic factors (poverty drives violence), and policy gaps where lax laws in one state fuel crime in another through trafficking. Stronger laws in some areas don't always stop violence due to loopholes, but research generally links weaker laws and high ownership to higher overall gun death rates.
