I don't remember the character names, so I will refer to them with the actor names. Remember the scene where Patrick Swayze used Whoopi's body to "touch" Demi one more time. In the movie scene, it shows Patrick and Demi Moore dancing and snuggling together, but it was really Demi snuggling with Whoopi's body.
Can you imagine getting the chance to hold and snuggle one more time with your soul mate, but it's your soul mate in Whoopi's body?

How did Whoppi get so much taller than Demi?

I will give a serious answer:

I abhor Whoopi and everything she stands for. But if it were my deceased loved one inside her body, I would welcome the chance to show love and affection one last time. (But I would definitely have to keep my eyes closed.)

The doubt factor would probably be hard to overcome.

You cried the first time you watched this scene, don't lie.

It worked because they used the appearance of Swayze in the romantic scene with Moore. If the scene were made today they would have used Whoopi.

Now here's a cute cat meme to help you forget what I said.

The shit you people think about... and I don't mean left/right, I just mean you people in general...

I find it remarkable for someone to watch this movie without thinking about that "shit"!

Swayze would get the chance to play a ghost for real in 2009, dying at 57 of pancreatic cancer.

It is one of the few scenes, I remember from the movie. I thought this scene and the earlier love scene were wonderfully done, and the most romantic and sad scenes I have ever watched. Of course, some people will see it differently because of the way they see the world.

I see it differently because of the premises set up in the movie. When Patrick Swayze utilizes Whoopi, her body doesn't actually transform into Patrick. Showing Demi snuggle with Patrick and rest her head on his broad shoulders is a bait and switch. She is snuggling and slow dancing with the body of Whoopi and that is what a third person observer would see.

You saw it as bait and switch but I think most of the audience saw it as a bit of movie magic to bring Demi and Patrick together to create one of the most romantic movies of all times. However, I don't think the point is worth arguing over.

Yep, the bait and switch was effective on you and thousands of other people.
