LuckyDuck was absolutely right on. He understands Islam's purpose in coming the West and it's certainly not to integrate into Western culture.

It is not so different than christian history in the rest of the non-christian world.
Actually it began much better, non-muslims people of the book, were considered brothers of islam and protected.
People under muslim authority kept their own laws, leaders and culture for the most part.
Christians had as much to do with the change in the relationship as muslims conflict among themselves did.
