GBRS Group Awarded $300K from False Racism Allegations by Former Employee

GBRS Group, a leading tier one tactical training and services company, was awarded damages in an arbitration case that found that a former employee's viral social media posts against the company were responsible for spurring false accusations of racism against the company and its executives.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Jan. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- GBRS Group, a leading tier one tactical training and services company, was awarded damages in an arbitration case that found that a former employee's viral social media posts against the company were responsible for spurring false accusations of racism against the company and its executives.

The former employee subsequently admitted under oath that the racial allegations against GBRS Group were not true.

In the verdict, GBRS Group was awarded more than $300,000 in compensation for damages. The former employee was ordered to remove all online posts related to the matter.

Good.

It needs to hurt when you post false bullshit online and accuse people of racism maliciously.

$300,000 probably doesn't even come close covering the harm from this. Their reputations are forever harmed.


Under oath during the arbitration proceeding the former employee admitted that GBRS Group as well as its executives were not racist and that he regretted that his social media posts had led to racially-charged accusations and physical threats to the safety of GBRS Group employees.

Disclaimer.....I don't care for the company myself and a lot of sketchy shit came to light (gun world stuff) because of this incident but the firing itself doesn't seem out of bounds, again based on the newswire blurb.

Everyone would be much more equal before the law if fines were measured not in absolute figures, but as a proportion of the offender's total assets. Otherwise, less wealthy citizens are always punished more severely than the rich.

I think that libel and slander should be criminal offenses, punished with gargantuan fines, long prison sentences, and probably public caning.

The public caning would take care of 87% of such claims.
