Not in my country Germany. Very most of us think that education is a basic right for everyone - also the poor. Indeed we think not only it a basic right - we think it is a basic duty. (The correct word in German is not "Erziehung" (=education) but "Bildung" - this word not exists in the English language. Your word "building" has the same root as far as I can see). We say "Education [="Bildung"] is what remains when you have forgotten what you have learnt."

Indeed I don't understand the concept "money" at all. I know nearly nothing about economy. The strange thing: I'm very often totally right when I say something about economy - which I avoid doing as much as possible. Main reason for my dislike: We made no good experience with the philosophy of money (whatever money really could be).

By the way: Many Germans who live for a while in the USA are often wondering about the low level of education in your country. Nevertheless we learn like crazy from your culture many things which are sometimes also totally insane. Yesterday I heard for example some car-tuners made a big event out of Good Friday by perverting the German word "Karfreitag" into "car friday". It exist even people who like to dance in public at Good Friday. Such people are unbelievable uneducated. Money is no god.
