forum terms fine print

technically you can be removed/suspended from any forum at anytime for no reason even if you did not break any terms

seems illegal but you actually don't have any rights like you thought you might

thus you are rather at the mercy of the admin and mods.......so be nice ;)
That's standard legal language. You basically indicate that as the owner you make all of the rules and they can be enforced at your discretion for any reason or no reason at all.

That's to cover you for any unforeseen, couldn't have possibly thought of that scenario beforehand situations.

Because it's a privately owned site. The people who PAY money to keep the site online get to make the rules.

There is absolutely nothing nefarious about this because all sites pretty much adhere to this model, other than how it can be used to discriminate.

A sock is somebody who is posing as another member and usually it's from a banned account. My apologies if that isn't you.
no worries, haha I learned something as I have been on many forums for 20+years and I can't say I ever hear the term sock but yes, I knew members who would create an account, flame the board, banned, create a new account........rinse and repeat

I was a moderator at a forum ages ago, you can kinda tell by their rhetoric if it's the same person/new name

As Candace Owen’s would say, Life is tough. Get a helmet.

And if this is Dakota, get a mouth guard and a ball protector too. 😂

correct, a quick question to grok if your account can be revoked for doing nothing and yes, it actually can

I mean that sucks, so much for freedom, right? not really even appeal process to defend yourself

Yeah sorry about that. I just got somebody banned here because they kept leaking private information and I thought that he was you coming back with a vengeance towards me.

You though that it was him too?

If you a legit new member, the moderation here is pretty chill and fair. I’ve never seen anything over the top. It’s pretty hard to get banned.

nope, I just found this site the other day, never knew it existed, actually a question to grok who has a forum with a political sub-forum and this one came up

You talked a whole lot like him.

let's just say a friend of mine on another forum I am on was suspended because they reported a member who was violating board terms, apparently this other member was "worth" more and were not punished, the reporter was. contacting the admin proved useless.
completely not right or just but it can be done and you are powerless, just something to think about
Well something to consider. If you've been officially banned from a site then you know (understand) that your presence is not wanted there, particularly if they've taken measures to block you.

If you then take steps to circumvent the blocking measures and insist upon being somewhere that you were banned from, the courts generally see this scenario as being evidence that your subsequent behavior was intentional (returning where you know that your presence is unwanted).

At this point, if an allegation of harassment is made against you, the person making the allegation pretty much doesn't have to prove that your behavior was intentional, you've already done that part for her.

Or him.

no clue who sock is, not me. I will add this was on a tech forum and shit you not it was over who is has a better MB, asus or gigabyte.......LOL

I know ford vs chevy guys can get heated but that is just plain silly
Yeah, there is no online forum that is not subjected to nonsense at times.

pretty much but it can just be a as simple as a certain person knows or is more friendly to the admin/mod to sway their decision

kinda like high school BS, I don't like so and so therefore they don't need to be here scenario

you don't have a voice is you are tagged

This is the only site I haven't been banned/censored/shadow banned from at some point. There's that. Well, badlands and rubber room don't really count :auiqs.jpg:

Or have I? 🤔

Well, technically, a little more involved, as mods don't have access to ban someone from a Forum. They can ban from replying to a thread, or ban from the board, temporarily or even permanently. But, it is always for cause.

I have heard banning from a Forum discussed, understand it is more complicated than worth, and requires Admin to do it. I have never seen it done.

Try not to lose sleep. Simply read:

USMB Guidelines for Posting

Enjoy the board.

technically you could try to hide behind a VPN but as I mentioned, everybody has a personality so when said person was banned and comes back it does not take long for the cues to show it's the same person under a new name

I've dealt with this before when I was a moderator, you catch on
