Fort Lauderdale cops immune from liability after cracking skull of BLM protester, judge rules

If you don't want to get hurt by the police then don't do things to make them hurt you.

Tear gas? Rubber bullets? Yeah they were out of hand. Once you break the law then YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for what happens to you. If you do something that makes the cops show up then it's your fault, the more you escalate it once they show up the more likely you're going to get hurt.

I've never been hurt by a police officer and neither has anyone Ive ever known because we don't do shit that makes the police show up.

SHHHHHHHH you're not allowed to use that logic. Remember, the police are racists and are hunting down POC. That is the propaganda we must believe. Careful, or you'll be removed and will have "Work" to do so you can become "woke" and learn'ed.

F that in the A.

I know that's sarcasm but I'll never stop being realistic. I'm almost 50 so I am old enough to remember when our country had sanity and grew up with my grandmother and uncle who lived in even more sanity than I did.

Like my uncle used to say before he left this shitty world, if you don't want to get into trouble then don't cause trouble.

Basically, the standard for finding qualified immunity in a criminal law context is whether the police acted in a way they knew, or should have known, was illegal or outside the norm of their jobs.

The article's confusing, but I doubt the cop made the decision to shoot the protesters with rubber bullets, and someone higher up made the call for tear gas and rubber bullets.

The lady could still try to sue the policedept/county/city. Personally, it seems a reach to me for a person to choose to attend a demonstration. I suppose she'd have to argue and show there was no violence by the demonstrators that required the cops to "blow the place down."
