Thats right...............

WHERE is the CORRECT place for the catbox in the house?

NOT counting outdoor cats who do it outside.

Living Room?
Bedroom?
Bathroom?
Laundry Room?
Garage (if you have one)?
Patio (if you have one)?
Hallway?
Kitchen?
Dining Room?

Short hall between kitchen, laundry room and den for us. Though, at times have had a second one at the end of main hall, or in corner of master bath.

The proper place for the cat box is directly under the cats ass!

Now Kitty would like to know...Why does papa keep stealing my poop? 🤔

We have five cats. I use a 30-gallon tote as the litter box. It sits in a kiddie pool, to keep most of the tracked litter off the floor. This assembly is in a corner of the living room.

Maine coons, perfect behavior, always goes in the box. The problem is that they get their front end in the box, scratches around a little and then let fly. That leaves the litter pristine but gallons of pee and piles of poo on the outside.

We tried various things but finally came across something called “breeze”. Made by Tidy Cat, it comes in three sizes - small, medium and enormous.

The enormous Maine coon size is perfect but the only place we can put it is the guest bathroom. A minor problem is that if you stay in the guest room, you have go outside.

Anyplace that is private, out of sight of guests in the home and always accessible to the cat. If you have the floor space in the laundry room that is an ideal spot. Cats like privacy when they do their business just like we do.

For me, it is not really WHERE perse, but WHERE it needs to be to NOT be in the line of "getting a whiff" before it simmers down after a squat.

I mean, seriously..............cat shit is no laughing matter. One little turd can have you running to open ALL the windows and doors!!!

Doesn't matter what I've fed my cats, what kind of vitamins I give them, how clean I keep them, give them filtered water, or take them to the vet every few months..........ONE little Atomic Bomb and you're on the run for air!!! So for me, it's always been a matter of distance than placement.

I understand though they have some great kitty litter now that really cuts down on the odor. But I guess if you have no choice but to put the litter box where you hang out at times, I don't know what to suggest.

It really depends on your living situation. I have a 2 bedroom apartment. My cats’ litter box is in the kitchen beside the entrance to my sewing room.

My two older cats are very good at not missing the box and burying everything.

My daughter has her cats’ litter box in the basement. They have to take care to leave the basement door open.
