I spent decades in the job market, only to have my jobs offshored to India, losing my job due to office politics, as well as shifting political agendas destabilizing my employers. Solution: My side hustle. I started doing insurance billing and bookkeeping for a small medical clinic. At first, my feeble skills didn't command much in fees, but as I studied books in the library, got more real-world experience and sharpened my skills, I was able to charge more. Cold calls added 2-4 new clients per year, and today I'm making more than I did at my jobs and get to do this from my home office - and forget all those get rich quick guru's peddling their courses, starting and running a successful at home business is hard work, and you can fully expect some setbacks. However, it has some huge benefits:
No one is going to offshore your job
No one is going to tell you that you can't go to work
Today's tech tools offer opportunities undreamed of just 25 years ago.
If you get sick and can't work for a few days, you won't have to worry
about an employer's stupid absentee policy.
So, forget political ideology, keep your day job, but turn off that TV, and get to work on a side hustle. It's going to take persistence, but you'll find politics matters very little when you're independent!
