For me to know and you not to find out.
I'm very surprised nobody's posted on this story yet. Pembroke, New York is East of Buffalo. Now, having said that, apparently as the investigation continues, it would appear that operator error was indeed a contributing factor here. Now, as a bus enthusiast and operator, this is very concerning to me as I have never heard of M and Y tours out of Staten Island. For a long time, I have seen fly-by-night or "Chinatown" bus carriers out of NYC muscling in on the busy Toronto-New York City corridor taking business away from Greyhound and Trailways. You can usually tell their buses by the fact they are plain white older and run down coaches that I would be amazed if they even passed a NYSDOT inspection. In light of recent events concerning that Indian illegal who killed the three people in Florida, along with the current and welcome crackdown on illegals obtaining CDLs and driving trucks and buses. Stay tuned. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/22/nyregion/new-york-tour-bus-crash.html

Sad. RIP. I always enjoyed long bus rides on the highway as it allowed me to think, listen to music, meditate. With so many stories of bus accidents of late, what once seemed like an indestructable size outside of a.truck, poor driving is the equalizer to more.deaths.

Many moons ago in my ill-spent yoot, I used to do daytrippers between Buffalo and Rochester, then later Buffalo and Toronto. I usually sat kitty-corner to the driver and watched him interact with the vehicle. Especially in my earlier riding days between 1988 and 1993 when Empire Trailways was still in business. All of their coaches to the 1989 delivery were stick transmissions. That's how I learned to double clutch, by watching the driver doing just that. The 1990 coaches on were automatics.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday or the day before....It barely got any mention due to the grandstanding surrounding the dot Indian semi driver being extradited from CA to FL.

About all that was mentioned was a child had died.

Four others lost their lives as well. With all the well-deserved attention in FL, it's also important to note the Motorcoach sector isn't immune from this either. I mentioned before there have been issues concerning fly-by-night or "Chinatown" bus companies originating out of NYC muscling in on the Toronto-NYC line runs.

I took a bus trip once from San Antonio, TX to Laredo. It was late night. I was trying to sleep. The bus kept veering off the highway, hitting gravel then coming back onto the highway (I 35).

I looked at the driver to see if he was falling asleep. He wasn't. He was picking his nose then looking to see what he dug out.........and going off the road........then he corrected the bus and started picking his nose again.

Worst bus ride of my life. The other one was up a mountain in Bavaria where the road was just wide enough for one bus. I was on the right side of the bus and could look straight down...........thousands of feet.

I don't ride a bus anymore.
