Finally purchased Closing Time............

...........by Tom Waits tonight. It's his first studio album, originally released in 1973. The CD sounds quite good, Tom's vocals aren't as ragged as they would become later in his career. The songs have a bluesy, late-night feel. It features a song that the Eagles covered, Ol' '55. Pick this one up if you're a fan of laid back bluesy music.

His later vocals after the late 1980's, he does. But on this first album he sounds normal. A little raspy, but not bad.

It's weird, I first noticed Waits in that b&w film
where he escaped from a swamp prison.
Then he made me roar with laughter in 'cold feet'.
Finally I bought a cd of his MUSIC

Thank you once again. Which album by Waits is your favorite? The only one I've heard by him in its entirety is Closing Time. I like it quite a bit.

I've naively heard mostly his concerts on vid and cd, but his most popular 'Dogs' ablum comes to mind. Also of course 'Mule'
