Fentanyl is FDA approved for having no side effects at all.
It is one of the safest drugs to use, IF the quantity can be carefully known, since it is about 1000 times more powerful than previous natural pain killers like opium or morphine.
So actually all the Fentanyl deaths can be blamed on the War on Drugs.

A Pennsylvania county has ended its “sanctuary” status for illegal aliens as the nation’s fentanyl crisis has hit the community, spilling over from the United States-Mexico border.
Officials in Butler County, Pennsylvania — which has consistently voted Republican in the last few election cycles — have ended the area’s sanctuary county status that helped keep illegal aliens from being arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told WTAE4 News that the decision was made as the community has been recently flooded with fentanyl arriving from the border, often with border crossers and illegal aliens.

These skyrocketing overdose deaths are not only tied to accidental overdoses but also poisonings, as law enforcement says they are finding fentanyl “in everything” from candy to vape pens.
Nationally, more than 100,000 Americans die every year from drug overdoses, including tiny doses of fentanyl. Put another way, the U.S. is losing a population the size of South Bend, Indiana, every year from drugs, primarily coming across the border.

Commentary:
From Mena and our borders, Maoist Democrat politicians have killed millions of people with their reckless policies and inaction. They couldn't care less about the common folks. Crimes only bother them when it gets past their gated communities.
Meanwhile, China is just doing to the U.S. what the Brits did to them that caused the Opium Wars.
While Mexico is happily going along with them, because it brings billions of dollars into their country from the sale of illegal drugs here in the U.S.
Unfortunately we have a usurping illegal president who on January 21, 2021 took the oath of office, never meaning to keep his word. As proven by is deeds.

Honestly I think the media really is too obsessed with the Fenanyl crisis and illegal aleins. One easy solution is total legalize all drugs including fentanyl. Seriously if people want to gamble with their life with a life threatening drug that is there own free will and choice to do so. Society needs to stop trying to protect citizens who are going to go out and do drugs anyway. It was there choice to do fentanyl, they die then that was their choice they made. Legalize it along with every recreational drug. Legalizing pot like some states are doing is a small step, but not really enough to solve our problems. Everything needs to be legalized. Pot, cocaine, fentanyl, heroine, LSD, shrooms, moonshine, etc.

Talk to any economist and they think illegal aliens are a good thing for the American economy.
