From boots on the ground by a friend of mine. (He went to serve lunchbox meals and did roughly 13,000 meals in a church parking lot. He totally messed up some cornbread muffins by not greasing the muffin pan...but I'm digressing)

There's roughly 10 people still known missing. The rest of the alive or dead or "missing" have all been accounted for.
That's not going to include those "just passing through" type people though.

So the direct death toll is in excess of 100 people.
The indirect deaths will shake out in a couple of years and likely never be accurately known.
These are the ones who get injured during rescue, permanent injury from something leading to early death, missed doctor appointments, destroyed lab results, poisonous food unwittingly served by aide workers, and etc.

The fact is FEMA was more a hindrance than a help in this. Much of Ashville has been involved in a land-grab by the government because it is now considered a flood area, even though floods never happened there before.
