Our country has racist roots and damnit, those things should be around for all to see.

Of course. To remind us all of a history we should not repeat. But it doesn't make the deaths any less significant. Regardless of what they fought for. They ALL were fighting for the country as they knew it.

The court stopped the monument removal because it is not a Confederate monument. It is the Reconciliation monument dedicated to unity.

Perhaps on that basis it should go.

Some of the figures on the statue also include a Black woman depicted as "Mammy" holding what is said to be the child of a white officer, and an enslaved man following his owner to war.

The racist trash needs to be taken down.

This morning's Washington Post:

"Judge says removal of Confederate statue at Arlington can proceed
A day after halting work to remove the Confederate memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, a federal judge in Virginia on Tuesday said he would allow the removal to proceed.
On Tuesday evening, Judge Rossie D. Alston Jr. of the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia ruled against a request from a group called Defend Arlington that the memorial remain undisturbed.
