In FY2024, the federal government provided approximately $1.1 trillion in grants to state and local governments, which accounted for about 16% of total federal outlays and 3.9% of U.S. GDP. This funding supports a wide range of public policy initiatives, including health care, education, and social services.
By the looks of things the feds give states too much of our tax money in grants with no apparent accountability for the monies.
I suspect our taxes could be cut right much if fraud was taken out of the equation.
Perhaps we have reached the point where all grants should be suspended and be reauthorized with stringent reporting required by the states to account for every penny.
