In FY2024, the federal government provided approximately $1.1 trillion in grants to state and local governments, which accounted for about 16% of total federal outlays and 3.9% of U.S. GDP. This funding supports a wide range of public policy initiatives, including health care, education, and social services.

By the looks of things the feds give states too much of our tax money in grants with no apparent accountability for the monies.

I suspect our taxes could be cut right much if fraud was taken out of the equation.

Perhaps we have reached the point where all grants should be suspended and be reauthorized with stringent reporting required by the states to account for every penny.

The feds have no business taking our tax money and redistributing it.

**** me. Half the states, all the dem ones are refusing to tell the FEds who they are giving Medicaid money to. Literally refusing.

Yeah, I remember the billions they "misplaced" but let's keep it on the states.
Trillions.

This doesn't occur without tacit permission from the "opposition party".

Yeah, I know politicians are assholes.....Sorta goes without saying.

Well at least now the department heads can, and are, suspending the grants.

The quickest way to stop fraud (once found) is to cut off the money spigot and reassess.

Just don't keep giving them our money to either piss away or send some Skinny on vacation..

The only way the Pentagon loot keeps rolling in is if the domestic grift keeps getting funded.
